..so he is the typical bleeding heart liberal and I am the typical anti-illegal immigrants *ahem* criminals. So anyway, he told me today that I was ignorant and self centered for thinking that we shouldn't be letting those "poor people" into the land of opportunity that work necessary jobs americans would never work. What should I have said to him in response?

What does it matter, you both sound hard-headed and stubborn and nothing either one of you could have said would have changed the mind of the other. Besides, you're each entitled to your own opinion anyways. So who cares?!

each and each and every of the Arizona regulation does in make sure the federal regulation exceeded in 1996 the position an section police officer stops someone for a diverse reason and the officer suspects the guy ought to correctly be interior the u . s . illegally, that human being must be delivered in and put in the front of a federal immigration reliable. After that the federal officer ought to take care of the issue as they do now. they could run the guy's techniques with the help of a pc to verify no matter if or not they're legal or not. At that element that is as a lot because the federal authorities because immigration is a federal remember. This works interior a similar way even as an section officer suspects unlawful drugs, the suspect ought to correctly be became over to federal officials. The Arizona justice gadget will deport no human being as thay is a US federal responsibility and the federal authorities will ensure each and each and every case.

I am all for letting the poor into the country to work, however, they must come into the country legally. The are way over 3 million illegal immigrants in this country. That my friend is called an invasion in any other country in the world. At some point we must force our government of whom we voted for to enforce our laws. My city is quick to stop my son for smoking a cigarette but the same officers drive by the day labor pickup point all day and do nothing to check out whether they are here legally or not. Why do they do this? Because it is a federal law and not a local law, as soon as we allow cities to enforce the law then things will change.

I guess I'm probably the wrong person to be answering this question, since I could be classified as one of those "bleeding heart liberals".

Personally, while I do agree that illegal border crossing IS still a crime (a law is a law is a law... doesn't matter if the law is just or not, it should still be OBEYED), I do feel it's a crime more on par with say, shoplifting, speeding or jaywalking... as opposed to being on par with murder, rape or grand theft auto.

I agree with dances that it's really too late to do anything about it. Something should have been done many many years ago when it first started. The best thing to do now is help them to assimilate (although, if they refuse to assimilate, then I do believe we shouldn't cater to them. The Chinese immigrants have to learn English, there's no "Push 3 for Chinese" on our phone systems) and help them seek legal status.

To dances - "let" them pay taxes? How about "force" them to pay taxes? As a citizen, I am FORCED to pay taxes, even though I completely disagree with how our government is spendin my tax dollars. You don't give them the decision whether to pay or not. If that were the case, I wouldn't agree to pay any taxes. You TELL the illegal immigrants that now that they're here, they're now just as much responsible to fund the social support system they're using as the citizens and legal immigrants.

There are plenty of poor people who want to come in legally. People who have taken the proper TB testing and filed the proper forms to come in to the country. They will be willing to take the jobs. At least with these who are trying to come in legal they are start off by following the law. Doesn't mean they will end up always being law abiding however the chances are great that they will.
Futhermore at least you know that these legal citizens are not going to give you dieses such as TB.

You should have told him that he was an anti American traitor, who shouldnt go whining about stores like wal-mart, while supporting illegal immigration. Seems your "friend" is a major hypocrite. Liberals dont like wal-mart screwing Americans out of jobs, but its ok for the illegals to do it? LOL

I always tell people to ask themselves this question without any outside influential knowledge. Say you were a successful person make a good living. You go to the local McDonalds and order a value meal. Would it really (think about it) matter if the person on the other side is an illegal alien? Ignore the argument of taking jobs and a drain on taxes. Would it really matter?

I say ignore the argument of taking jobs American’s do not want because if you were successful, a low-end unskilled job would not matter to you. I say ignore the tax argument because if taxes were not spent on illegal immigrants it would be pissed away on something else that you would not directly benefit from. With or without illegal immigration roads are still repaired and bridge tolls are still growing.

Personally, I am against illegals being in this country. Especially, since my wife is from Mexico and we went through the legal processes for her visa, which was time consuming and expensive. In addition, I find it offensive when there are protests waving a flag of another country when the protest is about gaining rights in the United States. Finally, I find it highly offensive when I see pictures of Che, when Che’s idealism was about opposing people’s personal growth and successes through communism.

However, once you become successful and live a comfortable life that is all that matters. If you are truly happy, are you willing to camp out on the border sniffing out illegals? Are you going to waste your time anti-protesting? No, you are going to go to your successful job and return to you comfortable life.

I understand there are American citizens financially threaten by illegal labor. But what has been said is the most important thing for the past 40 years, education. This is why I have no sympathy for unskilled labor that are threaten by illegal immigration. Some make the argument, unskilled labors made that choice. Then that is why you reap what you sow.

All Righty then! Has he looked at the United Nations voting record about the US? And we support those nations with our hard earned tax dollars. they have voted against practically every thing we have tried to do. Both Democrats and Republicans have left Americans in the cold in trying to give amnesty to all illegal aliens and any Al-queada that maybe here too! How much sense does that make?

Has he even bothered to go to any of the following websites? Does he know that the filthy rich Sierra Club wants to teach ignorant , greedy Americans what it is like to have over-population and poverty by helping illegals abscond? It's our fault according to them, that they don't use birth control? Tell him to give all of us a break and go to immigration and have himself deported.

You friend should put his money where his mouth is and take in about twenty of them in his home with half a dozen pregnant ones and support them.

The average cost to taxpayers per illegal is around $55,000 a year according to the GAO before the election. When he does that, then he can tell the rest of us how worth it is.

And you can tell your friend he can be happy now that Bush is lowering the standards on accepting HIV Positive immigrants into society.

I think the issue is moot - immigrants are already here, illegal or otherwise. Unless you plan to spend billions of dollars to turn our southern border into a two thousand-mile-long fortress, and another few billion rounding up the ones that are already on this side of the border and shipping them home, it's time to come to grips with the fact that illegal immigrants exist, and will continue to exist. Since they ARE here - why not let them pay taxes on the money they're already earning, so that the cost of their presence to the schools and infrastructure can be offset? The problem isn't going away, whether someone wants it to, or not, so we might as well get real, and learn to deal with it.

Tell him that illegals are cooks, construction workers, drywall hangers, and almost every other low profile, high paying job out there.

Also ask him what he thinks of someone who doesn't pay there taxes. Ask him about rich people and how they get away with all of these tax cuts and pay tons of money simply to avoid paying the government any of there money. This will probably make him really angry. Good Americans pay taxes. Then remind him that illegals pay less than rich people, they pay nothing.
