I had a big wedding (250+ ppl) for under 2000 dollars... It's not hard...
Buy silk flowers, and arrange them yourself...
Get your dress off of ebay... I got a brand new BEAUTIFUL dress for $80, and had to pay $20 to get it altered.
Get a local college student to take your wedding pictures... ask to see a portfolio first tho!!!!
Have finger food at the reception, not a sit down meal. Have it in the middle of the afternoon so people will eat lunch before.
My mother-in-law made our cake for free... ask around you may know someone who makes cakes! if not, wal-marts start at a little over $100
If you're not attending a church, find one now, and start going... they usually give discounts to members!!!
that's all i can think of off the top of my head. if u have any other questions, just ask me... jenuine_photo@yahoo.com

If you are not going to get any help from parents and you are going to have to do the wedding by yourself and you can't afford to go big and fancy. Then have a quiet, low key, inexpensive affair. You could have your wedding ceremony and have everyone come and then have a backyard party after wards. Or, if being married in a church, have the ceremony and immediately after wards have a luncheon in the church. Or, go to Las Vegas and get married and then come home and have a party at your home or the home of a family member or friend that has the room for a lot of people to congregate. Big weddings are a Big waste of money to me. My husband and I had a big wedding and I now wish we would have just taken the money from my parents, had a small, intimate affair and used the money as a down payment on a house or to furnish our apartment.

I am in the same situation. I am bartering my way through the wedding. Find something that you can do that would interest the vendors. I am a photographer and a designer. I am making the DJ a website - so his services are free. I am getting married at a place I photographed a wedding. I offered to update and maintain there website with my pictures - I got about 50% off my reception! There has to be something you can offer people.

Get your friends and family to do as much as they can to help. It will cut down the cost. I have a friend who use to DJ. He got me someone free of charge. Another friend was a professional photographer. He had not done weddings before but he did our wedding as our wedding present and did an awesome job. I also took my bridesmaids shopping at a discount bridal shop and got their dresses off of the rack. You weren't able to tell unless you heard it from one of us. Little things like this can make a big difference on the cost. Instead of having a sit down meal, serve finger sandwiches, veggie trays, lunch meat trays, etc.

You have to explain to them about your situation... Why don't you set the budget first before inviting?

try the drive-through ones in Las Vegas. I am sure those are pretty cheap.
