I had my first alcoholic beverage when I was 22 ....... now 6 months later I find wanting it a lot and I dont like it unless I get affected by it. Why am I drawn to it so much and how do I get past the cravings of it ( I mean I can't have it all the time even though I want it ) because I don't get the feeling from anything else.

The difference between ordinary drinkers and alcoholics is craving. Ordinary drinkers have no experience of cravings for alcohol.

It's called addiction. Do you have anyone in your family with an Alcohol problem? They say it runs in the family. It ran through mine, just about all the men in my family have a drinking problem. Even though you can get help, you got to want to do it. The cravings may never go totally away, you'll just have to find a way to help deal with those cravings. Also don't try and tie your drinking into having a good time. You can have a good time just as well without it as you do with it. You'll just remember alot more of your good times. Hope you get help with your problem and hope you have a safe and happy holiday season. PEACE

i would say you probably like the feeling it gives you. so if school, work or other pressures draw you even more that could be a problem. if your getting drunk that's also a problem. if your just craving a drink a couple times a week that's normal i would say. if you have been drinking alot in these past 6 months. then you may have a tolerance and that it may be time to stop for a while. good luck .t.c.

You probably have a propensity for addictive behavior. Is there anyone else like that in your family? You should seek help now while you can still think rationally about it. Please don't go down that road. I watched it take my husband's life-leaving me to raise 6 kids alone. It is rampant in my family and his. I have told my kids that they are double dipped- they simply can't play around with substances.
