I have a drum teacher who I liked for awhile, but the problem was that he is 8 years older than I am (I'm 20). Our relationship has always been somewhat complicated. He used to give mixed signals.

He borrowed one of my drumsets the other day for a performance and I went to go pick it up and I brought a my friend Zac with me to help move it. When we got their, my teacher didn't speak to or acknowledge Zac's presence, but the other people there were talking to him. I finally introduced him to Zac, and he just said hi and then continued doing whatever he was doing. He made it a little awkward for Zac
After moving the set, my teacher made it a point to stand there and talk about when my next lesson was and when he was going to see me and stuff even though he knew when it was.

I couldn't tell whether he was mad because we were a little late (15 minutes -- it would be unlike him to get mad about that) or if he was jealous of Zac...

I should say that I am not interested in dating my teacher, I am just confused and I'm not very good at reading people.

Zac is my age, so he is younger than my teacher

You are smart by changing instructors, and he should stay away from you (not speaking of the relationship, but speaking of ethics). As far as acknowledging Zac's presence, it could have been one of two things. 1.) He could have been preoccupied with another task or situation in his life, or 2.) He was jealous and possessive. Be very careful of him.

You and your teacher have a thing between two. When you brought a friend along he felt danger'd by probably a younger guy w/you? He may have thought you were sending him a signal saying what was is over? Maybe a one on one talk to clear the air?
