yeap! but only cardio exercise! and the only way its doing you any benefit is if you keep your heart rate up at its target range (there's a simple formula to calculate it using your age...but i cant remember it off the top of my head right now) and you need to keep it in there for 12 minutes sustained. otherwise, yes it is still cardio exercise and you're burning energy but you're not really getting a decent workout for your heart.

if you're looking for exercise for losing weight or getting fit, this isnt gonna cut it. you'll need to go jogging or other activity like biking to get some benefit

Yes that is true, but you need to get your heart rate up to at least 50% for it to be. It doesn't have to be maxed out. Now here is the important thing. If and when doing cardio (for ex) as soon as you get you're heart rate to max, hold it for 11-15 mins you burn fat, after that you burn sugar and glycogen. That's why its so important to do weight training as well.. Sorry just wanted to throw in a little FYI for you.
