Is he paying for it, and what is his budget? Maybe he cannot afford anything better. If you are paying for part of it, maybe ask if he'll compromise and find something you both agree on.

I tell my stepdaughter all the time, "if your mother and I pay for it, you're (wearing/eating/using) it."
That said, I can understand your concerns about the rust and tires, those are safety issues. A/C is a luxury, kid, and if you're getting a free car, just deal with it.
What I would do, if I were you, sit down and draw up a cost analysis on the computer, showing how much the car will cost, PLUS the additional cost of the tires and mechanical repairs needed to keep the car road worthy.

If YOU are paying for the car...refuse to buy it. Tell him you want a trusted mechanic to check it out first...the mechanic will back you up. It doesn't even sound dependable, let alone safe. However...if you dad is paying for the car...you have very little to say about it. You could still tell him your worried it will leave you stranded...or that it will start costing a lot of money in repairs to keep it going

I don't know your situation but if he is giving you the car for nothing and you can't buy one due to lack of change then say thanks and take it. If he is helping you in a search to buy a car that you are paying for then tell him straight out thanks dad but this is not that car im looking for. In my opinion Geo sucks and I've heard nothing but bad things about the piece of crap. If it is a free car though go for it until you can get into something better.

Find a better car for a good price. It could convince him. Or just explain how much work you'll have to do to it in the long run.

sometimes you have to stand up for yorself tell him that if he's wiiling to make all the changes to the car that you're all up for it otherwise you can't take the responsability of the car by yourself because of all the work it needs.

just tell him you prefer something else. Maybe this car is all he can afford for you though? I dont know, but thats a possibility. I know it could be cheap on gas.

Just tell him upfront, be like "Dad, there has to be another alternative we can work with here." He'll understand.
