It will totally depend on how serious the assault was. Was she seriously injured? That would be committing seriously bodily harm on another person and that's not good.

What degree of assault? Go online and type in missouri state statutes....bring these up and in the search area type in assault and this should bring up all the different charges and the punishment as well. Assault 1st, Assault 2nd and Assault 3rd can get you jail time from a year in jail up to life in prison. Common assault is usually a minor infraction and you could be fined and/or sent to jail for up to one year. It depends on how badly you assaulted the other person and what degree the prosecutor placed on the charge.

Perhaps your husband screwed your friend...have you considered that angle? Either way, violence is not going to change the fact that this is obviously not a healthy relationship. And if you have children, they need to be your first priority. Make sure they have a stable environment in which to live. Kids first, your relationship issues last....remember that. Otherwise they'll never have a chance.

I know a guy who was charged with agg assult with a deadly weapon (2nd degree felony). He sit 8 months in jail awaiting his court date. When he got to court he was offered a plea. under the terms of the deal he would plea guilty of no contest and get charges reduced to a class B misdemeanor of "simple assult" and he would be given time served. He agreed and was set free.
BTW this guy ALSO has 8 other "simple assult" charges. So don't worry about it...

Depends on the state you are in but usually it depends on the seriousness of the assault. You could get probation or jail time.

It depends on the judge. It depends on jury recommendations, if there was one. It depends on the mood of the judge at the time. It depends on how vicious your attack was. It depends on a lot of things, but because it was your first offense, it won't be as bad... at least it shouldn' be. Now try to stay out of trouble again!

In N.M. simple assault is a misdemeanor.(under a year in jail) I don't think you will spend any time in jail. probably probation or a deferred sentence on condition of completion of some course.

You will have to complete some domestic violence classes and be on probation for how ever long they decide depending on your offense.
