It has to do with scent. The dog did something on the pillow or another dog. It may be the scent from your boys. Get new pillows and pillow cases. That should do it. Had a similar problem with a male dog. Kept making a mess in the same spot. Cleaned it real well and it stopped. The spray cleaning products to deter "stuff" work well. Good luck. Mike

I was a zookeeper for over 14 years, there are two main reasons why mammals do this 1. To get their scent onto things they wish to mark as their territory. 2. Just because she is spayed does not mean she does not have the same urges. Spaying a female pet is close to a human female getting a hysterectomy. Just because the organs are gone does not mean the desire is as well. Cover the kids eyes and let it pass or take the pillows away and substitute one of her own toys.

Marking his territory. This is an instinct whether spayed or not. This is his space and he wants it to be known.
