Ok I live in Wake County so this is probably all applicable. There's a program for people under 18 *this would be your child and if your are as well then you would be able to apply as well* called Healthchoice. It's our state's version of medicaid for kids. You can apply for benefits for your unborn child and then when the child is born you would have to reapply for their benefits once you've given them proof your child is actually alive. Here's the website http://www.dhhs.state.nc.us/dma/cpcont.htm
It can probably explain a lot better than I can and give you the info you need to apply in your county. Good Luck and I hope your child is healthy!

You need to visit you DSS[department of social services] Because you are pregnant, you can apply for MPWN[ Medicaid for Pregnant women and Newborns] The family income limit for a pregnant woman to receive Medicaid is equal to 185% of the poverty level. All you need to do is show [you can't make an appointment, so get there early] and bring proof of income, i think the last month of paycheck stubs. Also, proof of any bills that you pay such as electric, ect. I believe that you need proof of address and residency [such as your bills and SS card] If you still live at home have your Mom go with you. You could also call ahead and make sure of everything that you need to have to qualify and sign up for this help. They will also help you with other programs for you too! I hope this helps and best of luck!

If you do not qualify for medicaid and sometimes, the process takes to long. You can get a maternity card or some other type of insurance card that excepts people with pre existing conditions. They usually pay 60% of your medical cost and are typically affordable. They also cover the care of your baby for a while. It really is worth checking out. Good luck

u should go to your local wel-fare office a great help they will insure you while your preg and the baby when it is born if you qualify you might even be able to stay insured there is no shame in taking help when you need it especially when it involves an innocent baby i had help with both of my children while i was pregnant and for the kids awhile after now i'm fortunate enough that their dad had benefits with his job but if i ever need help again i would definitely take that option good luck and congratulations!!

Either go to the local welfare office to apply for medicaid or go to a local clinic and see if they have a pay scale. The clinic over here makes you pay if you dont have insurance, but it a percentage only of what you make.

If you can't get assistance, pay as you go. Some doctors will let you make payments and hospitals also. It's easy to check into. Just call the hospital and ask for the billing department. They will help you out. Don't wait until you go into labor to go to a hospital or doctor.
