I completely agree with this statement!!
My parents have a neighbor that has a dog-right across the street. The poorthing just lays there night and day. When she called to report him-They said they couldn't do anything unless it was being abused!!!Unreal..That is abuse!!!

Good Question -

The Law should not allow this but it does!
It has been proven that chaining up a dog makes it more aggressive and this is what some people want. They want a guard dog and not a family pet.

These people are not deserving of the love and protection a dog can offer.

Because it is cute as a puppy then it grows up and is ignored. I hate seeing this. I even went into a neighbors yard and took a dog once and gave it to a family that wanted to give it a good home. This is so sad, and people that do this should be chained up outside for a week to see what it is like. I think communities should have stricter laws about this.

Oh, I truly wish We could figure out why people do this? I think it is the "ownership" mentality. "I own it and can do what I want with it" type idiots. And they are everywhere!! Don't get me started on this subject. We in rescue fight this crap every day and for every dog we help there are 1000s more chained to trees, barely existing and slowly losing their minds from the neglect.

I just have to believe that the "man upstairs" is going to ask these fools this same question one day!!!!

That is a question I ask all the time. I too think that the owner should be tied to a tree with no interaction and see how they feel. that i such a sad sight especially when you can clearly see a circle that they have made from going around and around day in and day out. should be against the law.

I think that the human who did it should have to trade places with the dog for awhile. I think that if a dog (even an outside one) is not going to be a big part of your family then it's not the right time to have a dog.

Good question - although I know it was more of a statement!

As a trainer, what bothers me about isolating dogs outside 24/7 in any manner is that the dog is kept away from its pack members. This causes stress and anxiety in the dog, which them causes them to bark, whine, dig, destroy, escape, etc. - all those bad things people hate about dogs living outside.

If you love your dog, train them and allow them to live inside with their pack members where they will be happiest. It is the best life you can give your dog!

Cause they can. People live to please them selves so the dog is there for them not they are there for the dog! but lucky some of us learn that it isn't all about ourselves other people and things exist :) there are many things people would say to this question....
The dog gives me love...
He is My Best Friend...
Why Can't I.,, I have a right....
So What.....
He became distuctive and I can't bring myself to taking him to a shelter....
But is all come down to the owner he doesn't care about the dog just himself!

That's the $64,000 question, isn't it? I'd love to ask that to my neighbors down the block, who let their Shepherd mix run around. She's had a litter of puppies, has mange, and is obviously not taken care of. It's a shame.
