i was in a car wreck a few weeks ago. i went to the hospital and got xrays and a cat scan, they said i was fine so i went home. a week later i woke up in the morning throwing up blood, went to a different hospital and they said i had a ulser. i lost a lot of blood and had surgury. i was in icu and woke up with a 12 inch cut down my chest. they said that i was losing blood pressure and had to do open heart surgery. see when i had the car wreck i damaged my heart and was leaking blood around my heart. causing it to slow down and would eventually stopped it. if i didnt have the ulser i would have just went to bed that night and not woke up. i just think that i almost died because they didnt look hard enough when i went the first time to the hospital, oh they sure did charge my insurance 13,000, but sent me home to die. im only 26 and have a wife and kid. what do you all think i should do?

Wow. You just blew me away. I was going to say "heck no, don't sue", to almost anything you wrote. Then I read what happened and thought hard about it. Yes, speak to a reputable, classy attorney. If they have lame commercials during normal work hours or late at night, keep looking. So glad you are well, and can be there with your family. What a wonderful second chance you have been given at life. Wow. Get a lawyer, friend. I wish you happiness and health.

I can understand that it might be satisfying on some level to sue the hospital; however, you are alive, and you are still with your family. Had the first hospital found the heart problem, you would still have had the heart injury, and chances are good that you would still have had to undergo open heart surgery. It's not good that they didn't catch it, but you are alive and presumably recuperating, so there is very little purpose to be served (in my opinion) by suing the hospital. I think your energies would be better channeled into spending time with your family, and in being glad that you are still around to enjoy your life.

What you are saying is difficult to believe. Ask your primary physician to get the reports from the hospitals, cardologist, surgeons and then provide you with reports. If you still feel that you were wronged, find a good attorney and he/she will determine if you have a case or not.
Remember accident injuries sometimes show up later.

I think so. Then hospital is supposed to tell you what to do and they fix problems. I think you should. I would if I were you. There doctors. They should know this kind of stuff. For all we know you could have died. Your only 26 you should live life.

Its hard to know what to do
because these things take years & years & it will cause so much stress to you
but ask a lawyer what to do but be warned they cause stress also
& are you sure your heart is fully back to its old self

Yes, sue the hospital! It's called misdiagnosis and happens to many patients...this ought to teach them a lesson.
