Sorry to here that my dog was going though that last year around Xmas time we since had her on medication for seizures. She had some brain disorder and this can be treated. We pay about $20.00 every 6months worth of medication. We have her blood tested once per year.I would pay any amount of money to see my dog back to normal. My dog was acting really wried after each seizure. The vet said that they only get worst and they could die from this if not treated so please take your dog in a get he or she checked out.My dog is back to normal now i am so thankful she is still here with me.

should have seen a vet a long time ago, could be metabolic, could be a tumor, u never know, could be epileptic. Either way every seizure they ahve causes brain damage, and you may end up with a dog that doesn't know whats going on in the end. There are many medications they can take to try and decrease seizures as well as neurologists around the country that can do an MRI/CT if you wish. Please dont let your pet suffer by seizuring every month. Plus when they seizure their body temperature rises and that can be deadly. Any seizure over 5 minutes should see a vet IMMEDIATELY. Bring your dog to your vet please!

It could be any number of things. More information would be helpful (age of your dog now and the age when the seizures started, has the dog seen a vet, etc.).

Some of the things that cause seizures include high fevers, some illnesses, tumors, poisons and often it is diagnosed as epilepsy. You really need to see a vet to make a good diagnosis.

Unless one of us can telepathically do testing how could we possibly know why your dog is having seizures without any information? But I'll try without observation, blood tests, Electroencephalogram (EEG), Video telemetry, or any scans.

1. Medications
2. Low Blood Sugar
3. Epilepsy-which is a blanket term for seizures of unknown cause
4. A high fever
5. Stress
6. Heart condition
7. A seizure triggered by certain stimuli ie. flickering lights
8. Brain Infection (such as meningitis)
9. Brain Tumor
10. Brain Injury
11. Chemical Imbalance in the Blood
12. Toxins

All of the above would require you see you veterinarian.
Good Luck!

As highly suggested this is a " see a vet" situation. There are several medical problems that can cause seizures, epilepsy is just one of those. And that can be controlled with meds. However, there could be a more serious cause and the sooner the cause if found and possible treatment the better the outcome.

Please take your dog to the vet SOON. Tomorrow. There are many possible causes of seizures and your vet will be able to tell you what's wrong. My dog has epilepsy and takes phenobarbital. Her seizures are completely controlled by the medication. Untreated seizures can cause brain damage and there could be an underlying cause which needs to be addressed very soon.

My dog started this at about 7 yrs of age. Had a few what I believed to be seizures, took her to the vet and we observed and kept a log for a few weeks. It started as constant air licking , wobbly legs, tightening up as if she had stomach cramps, then vomitting. They became worse, total body stiffness and loss of leg control . Put her on phenobarb for seizures/epilepsy which seems to help. Still has a few , but not as severe or frequent. Please take your dog to the vet. A bad seizure is too much for their hearts to take and could kill her/him.

This happened to several of my Minature Schnauzers before they died. Eventually the seizures will wear them down and they will die. Check with a vet. There may be some medication to help ease the seizures.

Is she old? Perhaps a good vet would be the best route in seeing why she is having seizures, poor thing.

YOUR DOG NEEDS TO SEE A VET....NOW!!!!!!! This is not normal and is life threatening. He could have a brain tumor. This is common in this case. Make sure he sees a vet. If you don't have the $$, call anyway! Most vets deal with people in that situation and will want what is best for the animal and let you make payments. Don't mess around......
