No offense but it's very bad.

I'm 14, also been playing for about 8 months, and I have a 12 handicap. Plus I play at the 4th hardest course in Northern California.

You need to practice more and get a few lessons.

I get a lesson every couple of months as a refresher. I practice for 6-7 HOURS each day.

That is what you need to do if you wan't to be good.

REVISED:

Oh, sorry Stormy. I didn't realize that you were a girl.

That changes everything. Your score is very respectable and if you can practice often and get some lessons, you have a good chance on being on your high schools golf team.

Just try to stay consistent.

Oh yeah, what I did to stay on top of my practice if my parents can't go to the range, is buy a golf mat.

I have one and I have a sliding glass door so I can analyze my swing in my own backyard.

Also, how I got good so quickly was becasue I was very enthusiastic about the game, it seems like you are too. I watched The Golf Channel. You can learn alot from that channel, especially on Monday when it is Your Game Night, filled with tips and instruction.

I also bought a golf net to go along with my golf mat. I can now hit balls in my own home whenever I want to.

I'm sorry about my previous comments, I just though that you were a boy.

Hope this helps :)

hey that isn't too bad, you will find out that it takes at least a few years to even be an average golfer. best thing to do is to take some lessons, or you can teach yourself, buy or rent some instruction tapes, there are tons of them out there. to be any good at golf you have to practice at least a few times a week or more, everyday would be better. best way to lower your score is to practice your putting and chipping, you can really get your score down quickly this way, and you can even practice your putting indoors on your carpeting. I'm 43 and have been playing since I was around 16 and I'm always learning something about my swing, and I'm a 5 handicap.....golf is the greatest and one of the hardest games in the world, and it can also be lots of fun once you get the hang of it a little. most golfers that I try to help swing way to hard and grip the club to hard, just swing with about 85% of your strength, keep your body relaxed and don't grip the club like you are going to go chop some wood, keep your grip relaxed, just enough so the club won't turn in your hands while you are swinging. If you can work on just these things, you should greatly improve. also you can't play golf mad, if you hit a bad shot, you have to analyze your shot and try to figure out what you did wrong, and try to fix it, playing golf with someone that is mad all day and throwing clubs is no fun for anyone. life is to short to be mad while you are golfing..........grip it and rip it!!!!!!!!!

my son is 14. he has played for two years. his best score is 84. if u remember this. hit it forward, hit it forward, hit it forward, chip on and one putt. that is a 5 all 5's are a score of 90. throw in a 6 or so and u still shoot in the high 90's. hitting it forward and in the air about 175 yards and u can break 100. and the spartan guy. well when do u go to school, when do u sleep. do u have a girlfriend. its not nice to lie to the public lol. golf is a game of a lifetime. have fun. take lessons from a pga pro. not some friend that can break 100. good luck

Yes, you are doing fine. Don't listen to Spartan... if you are practicing 7 hours a day you should be way better than a 12. Keep at it, and you will see your handicap drop... it takes patience though. I started at about the same age, and same handicap, and mine dropped about 5 strokes a year. I'm now 22 yo, and in the high single digits. If nothing else, golf teaches you valuable lessons you will have for the rest of you life.

It is ok. Some people grasp it faster than others. Just alot of hard work, practice and some lessons will help you lower your handicap.

i agree with the guy below

that spartan guy is lying

there is no way that he practices 6-7 hours
and if he does(which he doesnt) then he should be better than 12

however you should realize that it doesnt matter the quantity of time..but the quality

you can practice all the wrong things for...hell....20 hours a day

wont make you a better player

its that simple

good luck on the toughest sport EVER

If you are taking an honest score (all strokes and penalties, etc...), then I would say that it is to be expected and O.K. The main point with golf is to have fun, try to improve over time and always be honest with yourself.
