Silky Terrier has a licking problem!!!!?

Question

My Silky Terrier has a licking problem (no laughig pleeze). She is constantly licking everything,(me & other people, sheets,blankets,feet,hands, etc. Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem? She is going on 2 years old. She started this about 3 months ago.

Licking is a sign of nurturing and affection. Why she only started recently is a question for a dog behavioral specialist but it is a harmless behavior that should not be discouraged. This is her way of saying "I love you".

what happened in her life, your household etc approximately three months ago that would have stressed her out? please have her checked for any skin issues etc with your vet and if everything is ok you may need to work on the assumption that she has developed this as a habit. there is usually a reason why...was she left all day for a haircut, new groomer, have to be boarded, switch foods or routines? try to distract her with a favorite toy or activity when she starts itching. the longer she does it as a habit the harder it will be to break...will also take longer. you really need to rule out medical issues first. good luck.

If there isn't any redness then most likely she doesn't have an allergy. If a dog has allergies then they usually scratch a lot and they bite at their legs and feet a lot. My dog has them and he also gets small red bumps around his eyes and on his head. Dogs can be given Benadryl for this it's 1-3 milligrams per pound of dog. They also have anti-itch spray and cream for dogs.

hahaha my terrier has the same problem.. he loves to lick everything all the time.. he will even growl at people and be licking his tongue trying to kiss them at the same time.. Wagging his tail and everything. he is funny.... :)~
