Yes, because the heat from the straightnening iron releases a lot of natural moisture out that your hair needs to retain shine and signs of health. If you also wanted to know about the hair straightening procedure (which they do in most hair salons): the concentration of ammonia in the the actual product that gets applied to your hair is much higher than the average hair dying kit you'd get at a drugstore. Your hair will be more prone to falling out after the procedure is over with; there you have the details of what happens with straighteners.

well ive been straightening my hair for about 4 years now. Once in a while i get split ends but everyone does. I just use this stuff that is meant for that. Like it keeps your hair from getting damaged when u straighten and blowdry it and such. It works. My hair is not damaged at all.

depends what straightener...if its ceramic its heats up alot faster most of the time and it's BETTER for your hair then other straighteners (like i use chi which is ceramic) but also you can put on a hair cream stuff that helps your hair even more by protecting your hair from damage (i use some by loreal)....and really even blow drying, curling, crimping, even putting your head out a window of a car.....anything having to do with heat or really hard wind is bad for your hair....and before heat or wind styling your hair with anything you should use heat protectant!!good luck <33

Absolutely it is bad for you hair because it does damage it.
When I was younger, I had my hair straightened twice; once professionally and once with a home care product. Neither one did anything but dry out and frizz my hair worse. My sister, who is a professional hair stylist will tell you the same thing. It's better to get a really good cut and learn what products will reduce your frizz without eliminating the curl that everyone else wishes they had.

Yes, because you are burning your hair to straighten it. I straighten my hair everday on high heat. I'm not supposed to use a high heat, but i do anyways. I get split ends more quickly than when i didnt straighten my hair. You should know that straightening is like blow drying or curling your hair. They're all damaging to your hair.

Most are, but ceramic straighteners work pretty well for me. I use the ceramic pro, it is really expensive, but even if it is rainy it wont get frizzy. Even when water is pouring down on it, it takes like 30 min for your hair to go back to curly again. I tried it.. It locks the moisture and natural oils in your hair, so it stays shiny and healthy. I hope I helped you in some way.

I've straightened my hair everyday for 4 years and it's probably the healthiest it has ever been. It just depends on your straightener and the products you use. I use a global beauty straightener and Aveda products on my hair.

Straighteners use heat to straighten your hair. So, yes, if you over-use something that gets really hot on your hair, it will cause your hair to become brittle, causing more split-ends and ultimately unhealthy hair. It is possible to make your hair less strong and cause breakage. I would suggest that you only straighten your hair for special occasions, if you insist on having super straight hair.

Okay, so usually most straighteners get between 400-500 degrees ferenheit, if you can burn your skin with a flat iron you can burn your hair. Every time you use that straightener, you are basically just ruining all of your hair.
