Just wrap up warm and still go out there,no matter what the weather or how long your waiting.Im afraid it's part of having a dog and training it to use puppy pads or newspaper will only delay the whole process.

If you have an attached garage or inclosed porch area you can use a small empty plastic (child's) swimming pool lined with newspaper to give the pup a place to relieve itself. Then the paper is simply changed and discarded.
The pup will learn fast that the newspapered pool is it's place for elimination *IF* you are consistant with its training.

Works great when its too cold to take the young pup out to a grassy area in that temperature.

what about not letting the dog in till he does...that'll teach em! hehe.. just kidding..
It would be difficult to toilet train the puppy cuz letting the pup out -25 is negative reinforcement! I would try to first try to toilet train in a room not as cold as the outside like the garage with a litter box or cardboard. then when spring starts move the box or cardboard outside. the dog will always look for the cardboard smell or box smell. Thus when its moved outside the dog will associate the cardboard smell to poop or pee

Last winter I remember standing outside in my back garden at 2am wrapped in a fleece blanket freezing my butt off waiting for my young Border Collie to have a wee. It's a good idea to train to a phrase such as 'be quick' so you are not turning into ice sculptures, it's what I train mine to.

Have you tried using the "Puppy Housebreaking Pads" for your dog yet? They are even great for when it is raining out also. Just lay pad on floor, then place puppy on it, so she can get use to it being there. Next time she has to go to bathroom, place your puppy on it. Keep this up for about a week. Soon your puppy will go by herself to the pad and do her business. Hope this information helps you.

may get a kitty litter tray for while it is a pup, if it is going to be a big dog this should still work for now until it heats up and then when the weather is warmer you just move the kitty litter outside and soon the dog will get the idea.

Good Luck

the same way you train it when it is warm out. Just make sure you wrap up well when you take it outside.

use doggy paper. you can get them at any pet store. if it is a small dog ( when it grows up) then you can actually have them house trained. i know people that have those teeny dogs that actually use litter boxes. if its a big dog though, think about it, he is going to have to get used to the cold. its just the facts, he's going to have to do it when he gets bigger in the winter. you dont want to have piles of poop the same size as your poop around the house. plus those doggy papers probably wont take a whole pee from a bigger dog.

A pair of 'wellies' and a duffy coat to keep it warm!
