best advice i can give is simply don't cook! african greys never had cooked meals in their lives in the wild. they ate what they found in the trees. you have to watch out for preservatives, high oils and such. some ppl like to feed chicken bones - these splinter and can seriously hurt your bird, if not kill him. my parrots had a fresh veggie (eg. peas, spinach, green peppers, green chilli) and fruit platter (some chopped apple, berries) every morning. avoid peanuts - no more than 5 per day - too rich in oil. avoid sunflower seeds unless you can get the white ones. live meal worms and beetles for protein. some birds will munch on half a boiled egg when getting into breeding condition - limited amounts in the shell. kd biscuits are an excellent food for parrots, with all essential nutrients and vitamins. glad to see you care about your bird - enjoy him.

You can cook brown rice and beans, pasta, sweet potatoes, corn, mixed frozen vegetables, bake corn or whole wheat bread. I have heard of some African Grays that liked to pick on a cooked chicken leg bone. If you do cook for your bird, be sure that the food has cooled to room temp. before giving it to him.

Whatever you eat- they will eat-- just dont feed them chocolate or avocados- it can kill them. My conure LOVES whole wheat pasta and loves holding it and chewing on the whole long piece- he usually eats 2-3 strings and then some meat. Cheese is also a fav but fresh fruit- especially apple, grapes and blueberries. Cooked beans, rice--- again, everything- mine even likes Lasagna!!!
His name is Bruno so his appetite is appropriate for his name.

Oh dont forget the usual seed that they need as a staple and in the summer you can give them gatorade, yogurt and ice cream and whip cream as treats.
