When Judas kissed Jesus on the cheek he was identifying Jesus as the one the officials were coming to get. He did call Jesus Rabbi, but was not of pure heart. He sold Jesus for 30 silver coins.

Peter, denied knowing Jesus. However, Peter also asked for forgiveness for doing so.

All in all, sin is sin. God is the judge.

Judas also took money for the Betrayal. Thus selling him to the authorities.

It is not just the action but the reason by the action. Peter's actions were based on fear of being captured himself. Judas' betrayal had manipulation behind it, to try to push Christ into revealing Himself as Messiah, and putting away the Romans. Two very different motivations.

Keep that in mind, God looks at the heart and the why of what we do. Even a supposed very good action by outwards signs, could be very evil, when one looks at the motivation.

Rumors have it that Judas did what he did because he was specifically ask to. Even if not, you are right, he never doubted Jesus' divinity, and followed him through out. Peter was only trying to protect himself. He didn't doubt Jesus, he just didn't want others to find out who he was. aside from the rumors, Judas sinned greater, (not that I'm a judge), because he knew who Christ was and loved him, and betrayed him for his on selfishness. Now, if Judas betray him to get rid of the Son of God. Judas would have committed the ultimate sin. Knowing Jesus was the Christ with a shadow of doubt, then turning on him and his teachings. This is doubtful, however, sense Judas obviously felt remorse in what he did by hanging himself. Judas did what he did because he had to. Whether or not he did it because he was asked to is another story.

The worst sin is to Idolize another God. God's first commandment "You shall not put other Gods before me for I am the one-true God"

In my opinion it's Peter committed a much greater sin for disbelieving. It was okay for Judas to call him Rabbi for Jesus was a Jew. Christian religions started AFTER Jesus' death and Resurrection so you can't say he committed a sin.

Judas called him a "leader" (or is it that?) and respected Jesus unlike Peter but he eventually got into the picture.

sin is sin.... there is no degree of sin, but there is the unpardonable sin and that is denying the power of the Holy Spirit. denying that the Lord sent His spirit to dwell in us that we might live a greater life. The Holy spirit has many attributes, many the form of a mother. But that my friend is the worst sin there is. For Judas did betray Jesus with a kiss, and Peter denied him 3 times, but Peter was forgiven 3 times as well, and Thomas doubted... and the Lord said blessed is the man who has not yet seen but still believes....
God Bless you...

Judas because although he never denied Jesus, he never gave his heart to him either. Peter loved Jesus and was afraid when he was approached after seeing how Jesus was so badly treated. He later repented for that sin. Jesus knew Peter was going to do this and Jesus said at the last supper that he would pray for Peter. Jesus also said at the last supper that one of them would betray him and it would be better if that person would not have been born. Judas had hatred in his heart and Peter didn't. Peter only wanted to save himself out of fear. I hope this answers your question. I'm a youth Sunday School Teacher.

Denying the Holy Spirit is an unforgivable sin. That is the only thing that is unforgivable. Which can mean many htings in my mind. You are proven that God exists, the Holy Spirit is God's active force. You accept God or Jesus then turn away and deny ever have known Him.

ALL sins are equal except one: rejecting/blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

However I'll comment on it by saying Judas died in sin. Peter repented and received the Holy Spirit.

To deny God is the ultimate sin. Jesus said something like ,

"Anyone who stands before others and says that they love me, I will say before my Father in Heaven that they belong to me. But those who stand before others and deny me, I will stand before my Father and say that they do not belong to me."

Something like that. Now... I believe we can be forgiven of denying God, just like everything else. I think the real trouble comes when we perpetually deny him and never accept him publicly (or to ourselves).

If you think about it, for a Christian to complain about the way things are is pretty much a slap in the face to God. When you complain it's telling God that you don't like the way He is handling things and you would do it differently if you were Him.
