You must first understand that rice is made different. Pasta and other flour based foods such as bread are higher. Flour is high in carbs, and most are not the good kind. You need to have carbs (the good carbs) to burn fat. Whole grains are one of the best sources of this. Now looking at bad carbs such as white breads are empty carbs so instead of burning fat you store it as fat. Carbs are very complex as well. They effect how your body burns sugar and glycogen (thats why it's harder for diabetics). You need this for energy, however once again....bad carbs will stop this process. I'm sorry if I'm not going into "detail", I'm not sure how much you already know, or want to know. I'm against the Atkins diet and South Beach for the reason you need carbs to live and for your body to process foods properly. Like the carbs in apples (not juice) and other wonderful forms. Your body needs carbs more then people know. Like fats, your body needs fat as well to burn fat. Omega 3 is the best..Almonds, Legumes, and the best Soy. The closer to natural you can go the better for you. Please feel free to e-mail me for more conversation on this. I also give "talks" and would love to send you my notes.
