Australia is not suffering from a man drought. I am now 28 years old and I have only had girl friends for approx 1 year of my life.

If females would actually give me a chance they might like me. At this stage I find it almost impossible to get a date. Maybe females are to choosy or are looking in the wrong places.

I am a man and I am available but no ones seem interested. I have even tried online dating sites and expensive dating services.

Some say all the good men are gone and this hurts as I would like nothing more than to share my life with some one special.

I work in a professional job, paying off my own home, own my own car, I cook, clean and look after myself, and I am fit and healthy and definitely not overweight. I am an honest caring person who is polite and considerate of other people’s feelings.

My biggest downside is I am shy and because of this no female will even consider going out with me.

So the questions shouldn’t be “Is there a man drought?” it should be “Is there a perfect (man with out a single fault or thought of his own) drought?”

Hey Liz,

Your question definately creates a debatable topic!

I am a single guy, who has been told by many that I am a gentleman, make a good boyfriend/husband, all that good stuff. Guess what? I am still single.

I decided to read more about what women want (movie was great), successful relationships, love, etc... I even went to this bookstore in the city and went to relationship section with all pink books. I was getting crazy looks. I didn't care, coz I wanted to know this mystery of women.

Bottom line: Woman are hard to please, each woman has a particular vision/criteria of the man she wants.

I am no Brad Pitt/Tom Cruise but I am not a shrek either! I have to tell you, I am a quite smart average looking individual but not getting any looks/feedback from woman! Well except from the heavy weights! (No Offence) But over 40s heavy weights which creep me out.

Bottom line Liz! We need as a community, starting from here, right here in "Yahoo Answers" launch a campaign and design some kind of a system were serious individuals looking for partners and friends. We have to create a guideline. You mentioned that you wrote books, well there you go this is an endeavour for you to research and explore.

In conclusion, I can assure you there is no man draught, and the key lies within our beautiful eves! Be realistic! Once that is achieved divorce rates will plummet down. No more broken hearts! No more broken marriages! No more broken bank accounts!

I don't know because I live in the U.S., but I must say that the ski towns seem overrun with Australian men (and they are VERY popular there due to accent etc) and there seems to be quite a few living in Southern California currently. So maybe there is a drought of eligible men there.

I do have an offer for you though, you can have all of our American men...the majority make fools of themselves 9 times out of 10, and should wear team shirts (sort of like a scarlet letter) identifying them as the men they are! We'll just trade men for a while and see what happens. So instead of making it illegal for them to leave the country we'll just swap for a year !!! LOL

Australia is not suffering from a man drought. The country has enough men to start up families and make every female happy. The problem is that females here have lost their feminine. They became exactly like men except for their looks. A lot of the Australian males have started to get girlfriends and wives from Asia as the Asian girls are still some how respect men.

I don't think we should stop our men from leaving the country and I don't think there is a drought. Women need to start looking in new places instead of the same old hangouts week in week out.I live in outback WA and there is no shortage of men here. Unfortunately however, the quality of the male population seems to be somewhat below average. I'm a single 26yo and have no trouble meeting guys or hooking up, but I am yet to find one who is either looking for a relationship or is worthwhile venturing into one with. It seems that the modern day man is all about "no strings attached"

No drought here. There are plenty of good Australian men out there, you just have to know where to look. Go out of your comfort zone and experience a little bit of travel. Go backpacking around your own country! Pick fruit with backpackers from overseas, make friends from all over the world in your own backyard. You may just find that the man you are searching for is doing the same thing you are. As an added bonus, if you do not find your Aussie, there are plenty of other men who would be happy to get to know an Aussie woman who knows her country well.

why would you make it illegal for people to leave the country?

O_o (although considering some of the policies the Howard government has come up with, it wouldnt surprise me)

I dont think Australia is suffering from a man drought. Women just need to look harder.

If eligible men are defined as loosely as Yahoo matches are, then nobody will ever leave the country! I have requested non-smoking men who are taller than myself - not a huge ask - who are NOT asking for Asians! My latest "matches" highlight short smokers who specify Asians. Come on, Yahoo, lift your game.
Regarding the man drought: I reckon we should pay a bounty to attractive Australian single women who bring back a partner from overseas. Like $30 or $40K.More if the guy has a profession or trade in demand in Oz and he can practise here - ie must speak good English and qualify for his professional standing here. There are excellent British, American and European guys who would love to settle in Oz.
And at the same time, BAN the bride trade for men over 50.There are thousands of women in Oz dying to get hitched and certainly a strong drought of marriageable males over 40 at least.

No there is no man drought in Australia. The problem is women are being far too picky.
I don't think it should be illegal for men to leave the country because if they cannot find happiness here then they should definately be allowed to seek it elsewhere.

Men would not have to leave Australia if women's standards weren't so damn high.
