Yes, if the crime they've committed is a capital crime (one for which someone may be executed). They're entitled to make any statement to the court that they wish (as they may testify in the sentencing phase), which includes asking for/accepting execution. There have been examples of people who have been sentenced and then refused to appeal (as everyone who is sentenced to die is entitled to), speeding up their execution considerably.

A convicted murder can request the death penalty. It can be requested in any state but not all states have the death penalty. If a convicted murder did request the dealth penalty in a non death penalty state then he/she would have to request a change of venue to another state that does have the death penalty.
Just because a convicted murder requests the death penalty, it does not the request will be honored.

Yes, you can request anything you want, and some criminals have done just this, but all death penalty judgments will have to run through the exhaustive appeal process which could be years to over a decade.

People actually have requested the death penalty. The two times I have heard of it, it was not granted. One of the men was actually sent to a psychiatric hospital and the other was sentenced to life with no parole.

Yes, if the person has been convicted of a capitol crime. They can also request the manor in which it is carried out. Especially if states have different ways for death sentence to be carried out. Utah still even has Firing Squad.

yes when u say you killed someone you have no other opinions but the death penalty.it is captiol murder.
example.-in alabama a man was just convicted of killing is 6 month old son i learned that the jury had the opinion of manslaughter or the death penalty so he fired his attorney and told the jury that they had to give him the death penalty because manslaughter was no longer an opinion.and by the way he said he killed his son so he wouldn't have to deal with his wife anymore
