JW, it is just an opinion. I’m just wondering what happens if you try to interpret this creation myth from a different angle.

This "question" disagrees with the bible.

(Romans 5:12) Through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men

(Isaiah 43:27) Your own father, the first one, has sinned

(Psalm 78:8) Like their forefathers, a generation stubborn and rebellious, a generation who had not prepared their heart and whose spirit was not trustworthy

(1 Corinthians 15:21,22) Since death is through a man, resurrection of the dead is also through a man. 22 For just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive

(Romans 16:17) Keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned, and avoid them.

(2 Corinthians 4:4-6) The god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers

(Philippians 2:14-15) In among a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you are shining as illuminators in the world

(1 Timothy 6:3-5) If any man teaches other doctrine and does not assent to healthful words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, nor to the teaching that accords with godly devotion, he is puffed up with pride, not understanding anything, but being mentally diseased over questionings and debates about words. From these things spring envy, strife, abusive speeches, wicked suspicions, violent disputes about trifles on the part of men corrupted in mind and despoiled of the truth

Greatest Heroes Of The Bible

Adam and Eve got a bad rap in my opinion. God created them to be curious, as you say, and then God punished Adam & Eve for acting on their curiosity. It's like punishing a dog for scratching fleas.

Eve was deceived by the serpent and she acted on his lie. However this the was first lie ever told in the universe. Eve had no experience with deceit and had no idea such a thing was possible. It didn't matter, God punished her anyhow.

God told Adam & Eve that on the day they ate the fruit they'd die but Adam & Eve had no way of knowing what dying was or if it was a bad thing to die. They'd never seen anything die. But when Adam & Eve ate the fruit they didn't die -- so God lied to them. After punishing them for believing the serpent's lie God goes and lies to Adam & Eve.

And God didn't punish Adam & Eve only. He punished all of their descendants. Everyone. Then he punished his son Jesus so he wouldn't have to punish humanity anymore. Go figure.

Yes, it's quite a story.

Then couldn't you say that Satan was in favor of Democracy? He too revolted against god. He refused to bow down to him without reason. If Adam and Eve are the greatest heroes, then Lucifer was their inspiration.

"Good is the passive that obeys reason, Evil is the active springing from energy"

They are just mythological figures. As far as the story goes, it's odd that God would set them up for failure, then blame humankind for another persons mistake. After all, would you blame someone for the sins of their grandparents? Blaming someone for another persons sin? ...but that's exactly what God supposedly did in the story of Adam and Eve.

Most unjust.

Besides, you cannot propagate humanity (or any animal) starting with just one man and one woman. The amount of incest and in-breeding that Adam and Eve's offspring would have to engage in would cause genetic defects and likely the eventual sterility of their offspring.

There is a reason you can't marry your father/mother or sister/brother.

Their are many heroes in the bible. I think the story is mainly about the creation fo the world and creation of man. God showed His awesome power by creation. There are many wonderful stories of God demostrating His power. I hope that helps you.

They weren't the greatest heroes...There were many other people who were greater heroes. Try reading about Moses or Noah or Kind David or Elijah or Daniel or Ruth or Mary.
And they didn't stand up against anything. They tried to HIDE from God.

I do not know your faith, but to most Christians, Adam and Eve were not great heroes, but the first mortal sinners who brought physical death into the world.

WHAAAT???!?!?
Who ever said they were the greatest heroes in the Bible????

And... "unfair and arbitrary rules"??
There was ONE rule that God gave them. It was not unfair, nor was it arbitrary.

Adam & Eve are not my heroes because they have deliberately caused their future children much suffering...they were selfish!
