The guy I like finally asked if I wanted to "hangout" during winter break. We don't really know eachother at all, we've just made a lot of smalltalk at school. Whats a good first "hangout" and how can I show him that i'm interested in more if we end up having a lot in common?

a good first hangout of course needs to be public...try going to the mall or out for coffee or sodas...i wouldn't go anywhere extremely dark like the movies because you can't really talk to each other. if there is park or a fair in town go somewhere like that...showing him that you're interested in him is usually easy. eye contact is key let him know you're really paying attention, and that you really care about what he's saying. i know by being a girl we can tend to take over a conversation, so try letting him pick a topic, ask questions about him that aren't too personal find out what he likes to do. there are so many things to discuss on a first date. try to make a lasting impression. and good luck.

Assuming that you are old enough for more...
A good first hang out is a movie opening. Don't do the hands in the popcorn or any of that. Just watch the movie. The beauty of this is that if you run out of other things to talk about, you always have the movie. If you get hungry hanging out, just order some fries. A whole meal makes it a date, fries are a good snack.
As far as showing "more interest", you shouldn't really have to... You agreed to hang out with him. If you weren't interested, you would have said "Gee, I am going to be really busy... out of town... with interesting people". Take it slow and see if YOU'RE more interested as time wears on.

Go out for coffee or some place where its quiet enough to talk but not too secluded for a first "hang out" and just get to know each other.
don't worry about letting him know that you like him just act like yourself and flirt a little.. guys know when a girl wants them to pursue them and if he's brave enough he'll go after you.

well... what i do is i take em out around 5pm... go eat dinner... walk and chat... and then see a movie around 8... after the movie i take her to get some coffee or ice cream... or w/e... then i call it a night.
