Does the 2000 Dodge Durango with the 4.7 litre V8 have a governor? If so, could it be taking off for more power, and where is it located?

i own a repair shop, and the only thing it really has in it is a rev limiter,, which most people call a governor, but it actually just keeps the engine from over revving on it,,there is no actual governor that can taken off or anything,,there is a chip you can buy though to put in the computer to by pass it ,ans this will make it run a lot better but there not cheap though,,i payed over 100 bucks for one a while back for one,,but it helped it a lot..

theres is a speed limiter and a rev. limiter but not a horsepower governer, they are part of the PCM programming, it can be altered by and aftermarket programmer. there are several on the market , i dont recommend any.

there is no "govenor" on a 4.7 ltr, so don't even look
it is all programmed in to the computer, go to an aftermarket supplier and see what they can do for you
