First you should try to find out the very moment you begin to feel anxious. Some people don't realize they are getting anxious when they are and by the time they do notice it it's too late and they are already having a full blown panic attack. Sometimes anxiety can start as a tense neck, twitching, increased heart rate, sweating, shaking etc and sometimes it can just start with thoughts. The best method to control anxiety for me has been breathing exercises and thinking rationally. At the moment you first notice the anxiety coming on stop whatever it is you're doing and sit or lay down. Relax your body and take a deep breath in so that you feel your chest rise. Put your hand on your chest and make sure your chest is rising up. Hold it for one second and then slowly release the air and count backwards from ten. with each number you should release air so that by the time you reach one you should be ready to inhale again. Continue doing this over and over until the anxiety has passed. Also, write down what's making you anxious. Write down everything. What you're feeling, thinking, smelling, tasting, hearing and seeing. Then, later on, when you're not anxious, look back at that time and analyze it with a calm mind. What made you so anxious? Think back into your past and see if you can find another time that made you feel highly anxious and compare the two. Don't dwell on the anxiety! Do something constructive! Start exercising, go to the mall, just get out and avoid feeding into it by thinking negative. I know the worrying is hard to control, but if you do the breathing at the first sign of anxiety you should be ok. Try to change your thinking patterns. If you notice negative thoughts are leading to the anxiety you must control them. Stop, breath, evaluate, and replace. Stop whatever you're doing, do the breathing, notice your negative thinking, take the irrational negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones. Go see a therapist to give you more skills to help deal with it and if nothing helps, you may have to take medication. Usually anxiety is linked to depression so, i really think you should go see a therapist to help you find out what's causing it. sorry for the length and hope this helps

Anxiety is simply no bueno. Let me give you my personal list:

1. Take a bubble bath. Sometimes I use the Aromatherapy products from Bath & Body Works.
2. Yoga. Otherwise simply exercise. Working out is great for your body and mind.
3. Pills. The legal kind. Paxil, Xanax, etc. Consult a doctor.
4. Deep breathing/talking to people. Remind yourself you are OKAY and there is nothing to worry about.

Good Luck.

I suffer from anxiety too. I've heard that meditation can help. Exercise also helps. One thing I usually do is try to calm myself down by just closing my eyes and breathing. It can help on occasion. If your anxiety is affecting your life (as it did to mine), you might consider at least talking to a counselor or psychiatrist. Good luck. I know how much it sucks to suffer from anxiety.

1) aerobic exercise (daily) just get your heart rate up a little-- yoga is probably the best for this because it incorporates breathing exercises

2) Deep Breathing, it does wonders

3) Therapy with a certified therapist who has experience with these specific issues

4) Diet-- minimze meat especially red meat and anything not raised organically (it contains artificial hormones which stress you out), Eat plenty of breads, minimize fat and sugars

5) Medication

6) Lifestyle... pursue a lifestyle with plenty of time for your personal renewal and minimize high stress situations (I know, you're trying)

7) Spirituality-- studies have shown that people with some sort of higher sense of spirituality are just less anxious, don't neglect this part of your person

Good Luck, Get Better
