Malware is malicious software, it is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent. It is a portmanteau of the words "malicious" and "software". The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code.

Malware includes computer viruses, worms, trojan horses, spyware, adware, and other malicious and unwanted software.

Spyware, one of malware, is computer software that collects personal information about users without their informed consent. The term, coined in 1995 but not widely used for another five years, is often used interchangeably with adware and malware (software designed to infiltrate and damage a computer).

Malware may be just fine with your spyware companies. This has to do w/cookies. It is always good to have more than one anti-virus and more than one anti-spyware.

I really, really, really dislike McAfee for the pop ups they give you and the lack of protection against keyloggers. But, today McAfee Anti-Spyware is the best. Better than ZoneAlarm, SpyBot, Norton, CA, Ad-Aware, Microsoft, and a few others I tried. Again, only problem...McAfee thinks keyloggers are just fine. This is why you need more than one program. McAfee will let your bank passwords out, but never let websites know what you looked at. Which is smarter to fix? :) Yeah, I dumped McAfee.
