The past two days have been really stressful and I've been getting stress headaches. Unfortunately, I'm having trouble sleeping due to stress and that doesn't help my head at all. Does anyone know of some techniques to get rid of stress headaches because headache medicines aren't working.

You need to consider a chronic condition being aggravated into the acute stage by stress.. When you treat the chronic problem, your tolerance for stress will be increased. I am pretty sure you are aware of considerable tenderness at the base of the skull.. Let that be your guide as to where your symptoms originate. You may discover some other discrepancies in your posture.. all interwoven with your headaches. You may find your greatest relief by visiting a doctor of Chiropractic.

If medication is not working, I would seriously visit my doctor if I were you. I used to have headaches and I used to think it was caused by stress. That wasn't the case. Doctors found a brain tumor, which was later removed. I knew it was serious when over-the-counter medication wasn't taking any affect.

Then again, lack of sleep can cause a lot of headaches.

Out of precaution, I do advice you to get a cat scan.
I really hope it's nothing serious.

if there's any day that u have time u can do either of these 2 things:
1. get a nice bath running with some soothe smelling bubble bath(lavendar is good) light a few scented candles turn off lights and close ur eyes and relax.

2.put on a little bit of vapor vicks on your forehead and on the sides.

this is due to ur body being tired whether is once a week or once every2 weeks u need to find time to just relax and not overwork yourself too much.
Hope it helps.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Try long hot showers. Do alot of slow stretching exercises in your shoulders, neck and back. Relax as much as you can. This can be caused by anxiety also. If you have alot of these headaches you should see a doctor. I take anxiety meds now and I have ALOT less headaches and tension. Good luck.

You can try a couple of different things. Eucalyptus oil on the temples helps some folks. A bath in lavender oil may also help. Try a simple accupressure techinque, squeeze and massage the fatty area between your thumb and first finger. Good Luck!

Take some Nyquil at night. That will take care of the pain AND you will sleep. I have had the same problems before and that worked for me.
