I asked a guy out (he said yes), and we made arrangements to get together for lunch on Friday...Is this still considered a date?

well, seeing as you both made arrangements to meet up and did, it would most likely be considered as a date

of course it is any thing you do together could be considered a date --- and its to get to know each other not a countdown for sex --- so many people consider the 3rd date the signal for sex --- forget it sex happens when you both want it --- maybe i have the wrong end of the stick but just in case :)

It could be, the guy (just to say he went out with you, if he's mean) would say it's a date, but if not, then it's just 2 friends going out to eat. But here's the question to consider, do you like him?

it a lunch date they are the best ones cause neither side expect much if he's not dropping you off at home afterward its a mutual departure not to awkward and if it goes well then you set up another date

if he pays for it then its a date, but then again if he is chivalrous (as i am) he'll pick up the check.
it also depends how you asked him... was it in a casual way or in a "i want to get to know you better" kinda way.
