Cut down on calories to about 1500-1600 per day if you're a girl, 2400-2600 if a guy. Exercise by doing both weights and cardio 4-6 days per week. Exercise means WORK HARD and SWEAT for at least 30-45 minutes. no Gym membership is no excuse, do squats and pushups and buy a skipping rope or run around the block a few times. Buy a cheap heartrate monitor and exercise at about 70-80% of your maximum heart rate. Your max heart rate is 220 - your age.

As for drinks, look for the calorie or Kilojoule content. If it is 0(or close like less than 10) it's fine to drink and you WON'T gain weight from it any more than you would from water.

Don't follow diets telling you you can lose X amount in just a week or 2. Slow steady weight loss and NEW HEALTHY HABITS is the way to lose weight. If you lose it overnight you'll put it back on with interest.

to push yourself and lose 3 lb you have to works REALLY hard and run for at least 45 minutes every day this week. I don't mean walk or jog I mean RUN. But make sure you drink plenty of water so you don't dehydrate. You won't be able to keep this up though. the healthy thing is to lose 1 lb per week

Drink at least 2 liters of water every day. No sodas or anything with sugar or caffeine. No junk foods either. Cut the size of your portions in half, and eat twice as slowly.

Get a hula hoop and learn to work out with it. There are 3# and 5# exercise hula hoops that really help out with the love handles, waist and hips.

Do the following, it is almost guaranteed to work if you are significantly overweight--it will NOT work if you're only 3 lbs overweight.

This is NOT a long term diet or exercise plan, it's great for losing a few pounds fast. I did it for 4 weeks and lost 20 lbs--almost all off my hips--they just melted off! It's possible to do for a short time, but to do it long term would be pretty horrid. Do this EVERY day but not for more than 4 weeks or so without consulting with your doctor. This is not a diet prescribed or invented by a dietician or nutrician, I invented it myself as I went along and it really worked.

Get up in the morning and immediately walk for 45-60 minutes at a moderate pace--don't stroll, but don't get yourself out of breath, either. It is important to do this BEFORE breakfast as it burns more fat calories. Bring a water bottle with you, you don't want to dehydrate or think so hard about being thirsty that you cut your walk short.

Have a measured bowl of plain Cheerios for breakfast--only eat 1-1.5x the recommended serving. You can put on 1-2 teaspoons of sugar on it. Each teaspoon of sugar adds 15 calories but no fat. Drink 8 oz (not a big glass) of orange juice and take a multi-vitamin with 8-16 oz of water (the more water, the better)

Mid-way through the morning have a medium-sized banana and drink 8-16 oz of water.

For lunch have a Michaela's or Lean Cuisine meal of less than 300 calories. Drink 8-16 oz of water. The Lean Cuisine meals are surprisingly good! A fettucini alfredo meal has food from the meat, grain, and dairy food groups.

Mid-way through the afternoon, if you are hungry (you might not be) have a snack of 100 calories or less with fewer than 30% fat calories. Drink 8-16 oz of water. Keep up with the water drinking!

For dinner eat 10 oz of your choice of foods that have less than 40% fat calories. Try to keep the total under 500 calories. 10 oz is about what you can hold in your two cupped hands--don't measure it out on a scale, it will get tedious fast. Just use a bowl that is about 10 oz (I bought some pyrex desert mini-mixing bowls that were perfect--there are some 10oz paper bowls available from Dixie as well). I usually had pasta with tomato meat sauce, which covered my vegatable serving and added some meat. Make sure that you get enough protein! Drink 16 oz of water.

If you stay up more than 5 hours after dinner, you may want an after-dinner snack. Keep it to 100 calories or so with less than 30% fat calories.

Right before bed and as long as possible after dinner (the more time between your exercise and last meal the more calories you'll burn while exercising) either ride a stationary bike for 30-60 minutes or take another hour long walk, or use a treadmill, stairclimber, etc. Be sure to continue to get plenty of water!

Go to bed, wake up, and start all over again!

Weigh yourself regularly so you can see the pounds falling off. You may also want to measure your hips so you can see the inches falling off as well. This will help keep you motivated!

Please please PLEASE remember that this is a temporary, short-term solution! Losing too much weight in a short period of time can have a really bad effect on your muscles, including your CARDIAC (heart) muscle!

Failing all of the above, a girdle works to take off the appearance of 5-10 lbs immediately. ;) They run about $30-$50 at Sears or JC Penney. I recommend a very high-waisted, long-legged one that contains your belly all the way up to your breasts and goes down to at least a few inches above your knees, it's more comfortable than having a tight band cutting into your belly or thighs if you have to wear it for a while. It sounds old-fashioned, but it really works and more people than you would believe wear them--girdles *really* smooth out your figure!

Good luck!

set one day aside and take a bunch of ex-lax, you will flush out your intestines and hence lose weight, it won;t be permanent, but if 3lbs will make you happy that will work.
