My dog takes things out of the house into the backyard. Things like shoes, clothes, tv remote, ect. How do I stop this behavior?

When you let him out, check his mouth, take away anything that might be in there.

Don't allow him to put anything (that's not a toy) in his mouth. EVER! When he goes to grab something, tell him no and give him a toy. Kong toys are the best. Especially if it's filled with cheese or something yummy.

I am fostering a 5 month old border collie pup that has a collection of her toys in a area outside. Does it take things out to chew on or just to collect??Dogs do like their own playthings, some more than others. They get bored and like to chew. So go stock up on some used stuffed animals, real beef bones and some tennis balls for your dog.

Dogs tend to collect items with the owner's scent like shoes and clothes to add to their "nest". Mine never destroyed these items they just collected them. Try to "dogproof" the tables and areas it can reach, at least for now.

Find things for your dog to have, collect or chew on and make those available. If the dog gets something it shouldn't take away and replace with its toy. Pick a verbal command such as "leave it" to use when training it to only get its toys. be consistant and firm. Praise the dog for selecting its own chew items.

You didn't mention if it is a pup or new to home. Set the guidelines and provide goodies for the dog.

My dog tries to take her toy out in the yard and when I just want her to do her business I tell her firmly "No," and she will usually drop her toy. When she was younger I had to tell her no and place (not throw) her toy aside and then let her out.

Go outside and walk the dog and play with him. Also, frisk he before you let him outside. My Lab used to do this but she did not get enough exercise
