Buying a cheap puppy from an online site is a BAD idea. Most of these puppies come from puppy mills, where people care nothing about their health and are simply in it for the money. They can have all kind of health and behavioral problems. While you may get a "cheap" puppy this way, you may end up spending a fortune on vet bills or training to fix the low quality animal that you get. The best thing to do would be to go to an animal shelter or a rescue to get a puppy. This gives an animal a home that really needs one, and does not support the puppy mill industry. If you want a specific breed, you can look for rescues that handle that breed. They will usually have puppies, and older dogs, and can tell you about the dogs temperament. If you want to buy a puppy, then look for a reputable breeder who shows their dogs, does health testing, etc. You might pay a little more than you would buying a puppy from a puppy website, but in the long run it will pay off. You are much more likely to end up with a healthy, happy pet.

If you are serious about owning a pet, then you can't be cheap, especially with little dogs. Because little dogs have gone through so much breeding they are more at risk to have serious health problems. And if you get a cheap one it is more than likely that it will have major health issues. Therefore, if you are getting a dog, you need to research what health problems are associated with the bred and find a respectable breeder. Dog's aren't cheap, so don't get one if you can't pay for it. We do not need any more dogs in shelters.

Check your local shelters & rescues. There are usually some small breed dogs (usually mixed breed, but some are purebred), that are in need of homes.

Dogs cost a lot of money. If you can't be prepared to pay for the dog, food, grooming, toys, bedding, immunizations, etc. etc. etc. then maybe it isn't the right time for you to have a dog.
My neighbors next door bought a dog over the summer for their daughter and about a month after they got it, in some freak accident, the dog's nail got caught in the mud and he flipped over and shattered his front leg. BOOM!!! They were out almost $3000.00 dollars in vet bills.
They sell insurance now for pets too, so you may want to consider that into the cost.

Look up shelters in your area online, they usually have pictures with descriptions of the dogs and the cost to adopt.
