I'm a diet pepsi holic and an older woman - 35. i drink it all the time and now am getting worried . does it take away the calcium?

It's not the brand of the soda that leaches calcium. It's the phosphoric acid in ALL sodas which deplete the calcium from your system and from the bones.

Limit the amount of soda you drink, and supplement your diet with Calcium CITRATE (not carbonate, it doesn't work as well) that also has Vitamin D in the tablet. Calcium Citrate is more expensive but it works better with less dosage than any other calcium compound.

Any drink with caffeine will deplete your calcium. You should limit yourself to no more than 3 per day. I do bone density testing at work and am an x-ray tech. Take at least 1200mg of a calcium supplement twice a day and make sure it has vitamin D in it so it will go to where it needs to and not be excreted. When you are post-menopausal you'll be glad you took your calcium. Take care!
Smoking and alcohol will do this as well
