Very good Question, but in the future they will have to register also as computers and the internet get more and more powerfull as an informational tool. I think Murder is higher than sex crimes in danger levels, but that just me.

you can now register a Police Officer,Informant,Rat, Undrercover Agent at http://www.whosarat.com The power on the internet is in the hands of the people, information in power.

The real question is how will it be used? Fair game in a free world right?

Sex offenders have a greater psychological influence on their victims. The authorities come to the conclusion that greater harm is done to the victims, especially if they are little kids. The whole purpose of it is to let parents know so that they can protect their kids. For murder-unless they are serial killers(they would be living in prison anyway), they are still listed. You could find them on the Internet with maps that show where the sex offenders are found....they're there.

Most people who rob - are doing so to feed a drug habit. Hopefully with proper treatment and their own free will they can be rehabilitated. Although, when someone is convicted of robbery or aggravated robbery - they most likely end up going to prison. Alot of the time murderers - kill someone they know and its either in a fight - crime of passion - rival gang members - or for money. If you murder someone (everyone is going to know about it) it will be plastered on the news. Some (not all) sex offenders prey on innocent young children who can not protect themselves. There alot of sex offenders who go through the criminal justice system and the news doesn't cover it because the victim was a relative and the family doesn't want people to know about the abuse or they take a plea don't go through a public trial. The sex offender is someone who needs to be watched carefully. Except for high profile cases - check your sex offender registry in your city and see how many of them - you saw on the news? Wouldn't you want to know if you live next door to a sex offender? (Not all of them prey on children, some are rapist) If not properly supervised and if they don't admit to what they did and take an active role in their sex offender therapy - they are most likely to re-offend. Thats why the probation officers have to check on them routinely to monitor their actions and to make sure that they abide by probation rules. Not many murderers are out on the street, most of them go to prison (so, most likely you wouldn't be living next door to one). What is the sense of registering if they are behind bars. Besides, except for serial killers most murderers don't murder over and over again. In some cases of sex offenders there is usually more than one victim. One Judge in our County has everyone that comes through his court create a DNA sample which is sent to the DPS DNA data base, so those robbers and murders do register in some way.

People can increase security against the threat of robbery or murder by locks and being extra cautious. The danger from sex offenders is insidious because they are usually members of the family or neighbors, someone known to the child. Adults must know the faces of those who have already demonstrated a propensity to molest children or adult women to take defensive measures of a more immediate type, which includes knowing where the sex offenders are so as to avoid them.

A assassin, rapist, or a robber, after a stint in detention center, would in no way do it lower back. even with the undeniable fact that an same isn't authentic of the sex criminal. sex offenders are habituals. there's a lengthy (and unhappy) music list of sex offenders being released after time and remedy in problem-free words to go out and dedicate a henious sex offense all yet lower back (and lower back and lower back.....). i for my area sense sex offenders must be euthanized. keep in mind that a sufferer of a sex offense is a sufferer for existence. a number of those victims in no way completely regulate or dedicate suicide later in existence.

Sex Offenders are the Cause de jour. Before that it was Mad Mothers and before that it was Gun Registration. The fads blow in and the politicians fall all over one-another cozying up to the loudest fad followers so they start enacting all sorts of laws. Robbey and murder is old news so that doesn't rate the frenzy.

If you think about it. ..
sex offenders have a tendency to ruin and offend the person themselves and there aren't as many of them as robbers and murderers.

better question, why let them out of jail to register? I'd like to know if a murderer lived next door but I would love it if I knew they were in jail! Why keep letting them go?

Because many murders are crimes of passion, the circumstances are often unique and unlikely to recur, and the recidivism rate is not nearly so high.
