You can get a product from any pet store that is double sided tape ..it's completely safe for cats, they touch it and don't like it . Put it where they usually scratch your furnature . I use it all the time for the cats with claws I rescue .

Don't declaw! It's soooo cruel. It's natural for cats to scratch so you must provide them with an acceptable place to scratch that is more inviting than your furniture. That is the only way. You need to purchase a scratching post or a cat tree that has posts wrapped in sisal rope. Cats love hooking their claws in the rope and they won't bother with your furniture anymore. You need to get a scratching post or tree that's sturdy and tall enough for your cat to get a good stretch too. Also, learn to trim their claws - your vet can show you how. It's so important to a cat to have their claws. Declawed cats often display so many negative behavioral problems, such as refusal to use the litter, biting and aggression. Please check out this website for some great cat trees. And they're much cheaper than a declaw surgery.

My mom just got a cat, and I didn't know this was even around, but there is this clear rubber/plastic stuff that they paint on the cat's claws that forms and hardens over their nails so they can still use them, but they can't climb, scratch, or claw anything. It's called Soft Paws, and the Animal Rescue League in our town did it. I think it was maybe $20? It's meant to be a permanent, more humane (and painless) alternative to declawing. Your cat might still try to scratch the furniture for awhile, but nothing will get ruined or marked or scratched.

I found that teaching your cat to use a scratching post. This does require a good amount of patience. Every time I caught the cat scratching the furniture I would pick it up and put it on the scratching post after about 500 times it worked. Iam happy and the cat is still with me.

SOFT PAWS - claw covers you glue to their front claws...

provide cat furniture and move it around ever y2-3 weeks to stimulate interest as cats prefer things that are "new" even laying on its side for a while will work

You can get them declawed. You can buy scratching post that fit the corners of your furniture so they will not scratch your furniture. Or buy other scratching post for them. It should help. Oh yeah they make these plastic things that go over your cats nails. It is like fake nails that cost about 25.00 dollars you get a pack of 40 of them and two nail glue for them. It does not harm them at all. You can get them at any pet store. Well hope this helps you.

try trimming the claws, vet can show you how, this way he'll do less damage. Or get a scratchinh post and cover it in FRESH catnip.

a scatching post put some catnip spray on it and when you see them going for the furniture immediately take them over to the post to use instead.

you could use SoftPaws or something similar to the, otherwise u could train them and buy them a scratching post, and keep their nails clipped, to train them, get a little water squirt bottle (etc. empty windex bottle MAKE SURE its cleaned out well and just water) every time you catch them doing it give them a little spritz
