its why america is free folkes get to say they dont like the government or the policies of it and i fought and will fight for the Hippies or the liberals or the republicans right to say or do or print their opinions if folkes didnt meet and picket in boston and have tea parties we would be speaking English and eating Crumpets right now i am a veteran from 1977 to 1983 and so im not afraid to say folkes got the right to do all those un american activities because thats the actual americam activity protesting and writng letters and speaking out if we didtnt there would be no Bill of Rights or anywhere to live the land would belong to the Queen of england

Depends upon which war you are talking about.
My time was Vietnam. When you came home, people called you a baby killer. Every generation has a war they fight. Iraq is today's generation's war.

Let's get one thing straight about Vietnam and Iraq. NEITHER war will threaten the US. So please don't tell me that people are fighting for my freedom by fighting in Iraq. Both wars benefit ONLY people who sell weapons. Both wars get people killed who should not be killed. This war, like Vietnam, will end, badly! Bad people will take over Iraq and try to run the country in a vacuum, like Vietnam. Then the leaders will realize that they cannot isolate themselves, and slowly change to be like the rest of us. You will grow up, have kids, and THEY will fight yet another pointless war.

I don't really care about hippies because they have the freedom of speech but really..

I hate it when there are hippies who have no clue what's going on and just following the crowd.. And even worse, hippies who blame bad things on people who really didn't do them, like the military.

Personally I don't like the war either, but I respect those troops.. You can support the troops but not the war..

A person can be against an unjust war and still be proud of his own (or others service). In fact, it is possible to be against a war of agression, brought about by lies and deception and to be very proud of the way that service men and women do their jobs. In a free society it is just as important to question authority as it is to be prepared to fight to defend that freedom.

Kudos to your dad, and to you for thinking about all this in a deep personal way.

Remember one thing, these are the same people that are pro-abortion in late term pregnancies, pro-illegal immigration. Places Bans on Christmas trees because it is harming the environment and tell you tofu is better for you. They areThe No Smoking Taliban, that want to erode your civil and personal property rights. I think the ganga they were smoking in the sixties has caught up with their thinking. I wish we could deport them to Cuba where they can experience what democracy isn't!

Tired enough that I will have my house in San Francisco for sale by this Summer. There are protesters that actually get paid to protest here. Most look like they are there mainly for the party. I've had enough.

Hey there, any "hippies" have enough money to buy my house?

Yeah, right, in San Francisco? HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No way. The idiots are "imported" and do this for money and a good time.

Your uncle died fighting so that you could have a good education, a good life in freedom, and judging by your spelling, you blew it! Did he die for nothing? Ask yourself!

"are you tired or[sic] hippes[sic]?"

Not as tired as I am of people who hate our Constitutional right to free speech. Not as tired as I am of people who think it's wonderful that our corrupt government is using brave soldiers, such as your uncle, to promote their own self-serving political agenda. Not at tired as I am of people who can't spell.
