i don't doubt that jesus existed. i doubt that he got out of a grave, walked around the earth babbling prophecies, and then went to heaven

I pretty much agree with everything that Santa Parrot, weemaryann, and Billy D said, but the one thing I hate the most is when religious people (especially Christians) are completely certain that their beliefs are the 'correct' ones, and somehow find it completely impossible to see the world from any other point of veiw or possibly 'doubt' their religion because that would be a lack of faith. And then they get all offended when you challenge their beleifs, while your beleifs are constantly being bombarded. AHHHH!
"Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is an absurd one." ~Voltaire

1) It spreads lies.
2) It makes false promises.
3) It stops scientific progress.
4) It causes people to focus more on an afterlife than this life.
5) It turns the world into an "us versus them" kind of thing.
6) It causes a great deal of violence both today and throughout history.
There are a ton more but that's all that I have the energy to type at the moment.

Nothing, as long as people keep it to themselves except in venues such as a friendly discussion on the subject.
The problems arise when, as is all too frequent, theists, atheists, and philosophers alike think they have The Truth and that Everyone Must Believe or Be Annoyed or Possibly DIE.
I mean, I'm pretty sure I have the truth (lowercase, you notice), but I don't have any real way to convince anyone, and seriously trying to just raises everyone's blood pressure.

I believe in God and in Jesus Christ, but I can tell you that I absolutely despise everything that Christianity is.
First, barely anyone, and I mean ANYONE actually understands the Bible. Most Christians don't understand that practically everything in the Bible is symbolic. Most Christians don't know that "hell" should, and is in the newer versions of the Bible, actually be translated as the world "grave". Most Christians don't know that forever, eternity, evermore, everlasting, and any other word in the Bible that refers to time in the manner of endlessly existing is utterly unscriptural, and should actually be translated as the world "age" or "eon".
Christians don't see the design of everything God is doing, they don't believe that he actually loves EVERYONE, they want to believe that God only loves them because they're special and everyone else is going to be subjected to suffering an unspeakable degree of pain and torture in some terribly perverted hellhole of eternal damnation. They portray God as a weak and pathetically confused God of meager and scant success who must hurt most of his creation to save a few. Not to mention that the scriptural doctrine of tithing is basically extortion in the name of God.
The wicked carnality of the human mind (that way for a purpose, and only temporarily) can't possibly fathom what love is and what it means to be a father. They have perverted many articles of faith and used it as a justification for murder, from Christian crusaders to Muslim Jihadists. There is very little in this world that I despise more than religion.

People who look to a higher power for answers instead of looking inside themselves for what they seek. I also don't like religions that say "this is the only way" instead of saying the truth, and that being that it's one of the many ways to live a happy life

thats like asking blind people "whats wrong with this picture?"
oh, the picture doesn't exist, right? and people who think there is any picture are...
by the way, atheism is a religion too, people are very stubborn with it, restricted way of thinking, and judgemental of people, criticizing without understanding, and also try to push their beliefs on other people, and everything beyond atheism is their own version of sin to be hated

It convinces people to vehemently protest to the point of restricting freedoms actions and behaviors which, though they do no harm or infringe on the rights of others, are viewed as somehow "immoral" by that particular religion. Gay marriage is a prime example.

Nothing is wrong with religion. If faith in a supreme being makes you happy, or gives you comfort or puts a spring in your step, go for it. When religion becomes politics, or is used as a weapon, that's when it becomes a problem.

Well I can't speak for others, but in my case it just feels wrong. I just don't feel comfortable worshiping a God I don't feel exists.
