eBe careful, Denise. Emotion has nothing to do with it. You make a decision with your head, you base it on what's good for everything and everyone outside of you; you make one with your heart, you base it on what's good fo YOU and then how YOU can help the rest. Listen carefully and you will hear God and your conscience. Remember, they're not the same thing! Think about that.

Fair enough. I bet more than half the people who say it don't know what they mean. That happens all the time. I ask people "What do you mean, 'my heart'? It doesn't talk." and they can't explain.
But what it means is, when big decisions come, we often use our head (logic) to try and decipher what is best to do. We listen to arguments and counter arguments and rebuttals that go back and forth and often, we wind up not seeing any benefit to making any decision. We come up with the most negative possibilities no matter what we do and we just feel confused, exhausted and down. But, if you calm yourself and notice how you are feeling about each decision, you'll realize that often logic doesn't matter. Your mind (intuition) is urging you towards one decision or another, no matter what your brain (logic) is telling you. If you can keep your conscious chatter quiet for awhile, you will often get a "feeling" about what you want to do. That, I believe, is often referred to as "listening to your heart."

When people are saying listen to your heart, most times they don't even know what their saying. But tracing it way back, or when people are just being genuine it means listen to that little voice in your head, if something is telling you that doing this isn't a good idea, then that's your heart talking and you should take what it says seriously. Listen to your intuative feelings, and pay attention to how comfortable you are in certain situations, and what your feelings tell you, just follow that, is what it means, and is also worthy advice.

"The heart is treacherous"
Use common sense. A lot of the times when we follow our heart, our deep desires, we end up in a mess, for example, you see some shoes you really want, but dont need and cannot afford, your heart and eyes long for them, but you head reasons and says, you cannot afford them and dont need them, following your heart, you buy them and cannot pay a bill or dont have money for transportation.....should have used the noggin, right?

Often we have intuitive perceptions. There is a little voice that seems to have no significant foundation that guides us to making decisions. Basically, you follow your instinct and pay attention to anything that causes doubt.

The heart never lies. It tells you if your sick, well or dead. Plain and simple. Your mind tries to rationalize, justify, figure out, create illusions so it can get what it wants. It means go by what is, not what you wish. (the mind)
