Wrap it around your minds, kids... Can you sell your soul to the devil to guarantee yourself a chair on the right-hand of God? Please explain, no "yes" or "no" or "I dunno" or "good question ;-)"... Those aren't answers, that's faggotry.

Okay, good answers so far, aside from the neo-conservative christian responses (*cough* get.a.life. *cough*)... Anywho, let's mix this up a bit... Assuming that the devil is a physical being as in southern-American folklore, what if Jesus (and, vicariously, GOD) were to notarize your contract?

When people sell their soul to the devil, it is not a literal event that takes place. You don't literally talk to the devil. What they mean when they say that is, to become extremly successful, you must let go of everything and focus soley on that one objective. If you want to be filthy rich, you have to care about nothing but money. Don't worry about the people you destroy on your way to the top. Be evil. If you want to be a pimp, sell your soul, don't worry about the lives you destroy doing that job... Addicted to drugs? Your selling your soul every time you put your lips to that pipe.

If you live your life with the sole purpose to make it into heaven, but that desire is a selfish desire, you are selling your soul to the devil, and you will never get into heaven. God knows better than you what you were up to.

You will never meet the devil face to face and make a deal with him. And if you actually do, I'm pretty sure the devil is smart enough to talk you into some other deal.

No. You could sell your soul by not accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior but the devil will only help you while on this earth not in eternity for he will be cast into the lake of fire. Call upon the Lord while there is still time you may not have many tomarrows.

Nifty question. If one were to take this from the Christian point of view, I would have to think that only worldly goods would be on Satan's list of offers. Since God is supposed to be stronger than the devil, God could override any kind of deal for avoiding damnation. I'm not Christian, but that's my understanding of the whole good/evil arrangement. ;-)

Now, am I missing something, or do you need to expand your vocabulary?

No, because you can never trust the devil. And the Lord will never allow a sinner who has sold his soul to the devil to be by his right hand.

Satan has no power in Heaven, only on Earth and in Hell. Plus the seat at the right hand of God is already taken by Jesus. In order to guarantee a place in Heaven he would have to have power there.

Why not, you can sell parts of your soul when you sell your blood to a blood bank.

No. No one has ever really met the fiction character you speak of, so it would be impossible to cut a deal with a figment of imagination.

I find it fasinating that you are creative enough to add new words to our language though. Did you miss the announcement that said "Don't eat the brown acid!" ?
