Some tattoo shops won't tattoo you unless you are 18, even if you do have a parent with you... and I think that is an excellent rule!

There are many reasons why minors should not be tattooed, and they don't realize that it's for their own good.

Who cares when you can be "cool," right?

I hve 15 tattoos. They feel exactly like what you think it feels like to have a needle pushing ink into your skin.

My mother would not let me get a tattoo until I was 18, and I am thankful for that. Because if I had gotten all the tattoos I wanted when I was 16, I would be KICKING myself right now.

i believe you could be any age to get a tattoo with a parent consent. they have to write a letter and get it notorized (sp?) i am not sure about that though. but the first two tattoos i got were on my wrist and the shading of it didnt hurt so much as the outlining. but you will get used to the pain. my artist had a movie on in the background so i was just trying to concentrate on that. my other tattoo is a half sleeve on my arm. i suggest that you never get a tattoo on the inside of your arm. it hurt like hell for about an hour. i am also a girl so if you are a guy maybe your tolerance for pain is better but i dont know.

Depends on state law.

In some states it is 16 with parental consent, 18 with out. I think in one or 2 states it is 21 no matter what.

Call a shop and ask about the laws in your state.

My tat guy doesn't have any. He is an awesome artist and does some of the best work I have ever seen. He will work on you till you tell him the pain threshold's met. But, other than that, it's not that big a deal. If you yourself would like to have the experience so you know, find something small and meaningful to see how you take it. The longest session I have had personally was five hours. Everybody's thresholds are at different levels, but it doesn't hurt to know.

You have to be 18 with out concent. With parental concent..it differs from state to state, parish to parish, and artist to artist. A lot of artists won't touch you even if you have concent. Others will. Some state laws are 18, no matter what. Find out about your state and local laws. Go to a shop and ask them. What it feels like...it doen't hurt. Kinda like a vibrating and scratching. It gets aggervating the longer you sit. I sat for 5 hours before..and by the end of it, I was so bored!

I believe that you have to be 16 & have a parent with you. I got mine on my lower back at the age of 18. The outline hurt the most. Needless to say I only have one & that was enough for me. As time goes by & depending on where you get it, it will need touch ups over the years on the color. Best of luck!
