What is a POS terminal?(debit machine)?

I own a shop, so i use something that we call a "debit machine" everything works on it(interact,credit,debit) except ATM. Is it called POS terminal? If not what is it called and how much does it cost?

POS= Point of Sale

There are very few POS that use ATM card anymore because all banks give debit cards (MC or V logos).

Most will let you rent one.
