You can, and I have.
Your body becomes used to relying on the medication to go to sleep.
Unfortunately, I can't sleep without something to help me and it's been that way for almost 15 years.
If you have a night where you can go without sleep, that's the time to stop. So take the sleep aid for 4 nights max, then don't use it for about a week. That way you can avoid becoming dependent on them.
Good luck and happy dreams!

Insomnia is the direct effect of a severe lack of alcohol. I kid. If you are suffering from insomnia then you need to set yourself to a routine where you get to bed at a reasonable hour. It is possible to become addicted to over the counter sleep aids. Try drinking a warm glass of milk before bed time, or (my favorite) a nice big bowl of cereal. Nothing like a full tummy to lull you off to dream land.

I was addicted to Tylenol P.M.. I used to take about six of them at a time and then smoke as much pot as I could. I used to call it "fighting the sleep". I have since giving up drugs and have been sober for almost 4 years now. So, yes you can. Don't let anyone tell you differently. I started out an insomniac and wound up a Tylenol addict.

ur internal rythem is not function as it should because of the stress & strain u r going through.
Create a timetable whatever u r doing as per now.i.e from the time u get up to sleep, to the minute detail.
Analyse where u r wasting time or not using properly. u can correct and reprogram ur schedule cutting down on wasted time.
Make sure u get atleast 6 hours of sound sleep. Leave ur tension at ur work place, do not bring it home.
Do deep breathing exercise, and do brisk walking in the morning.
Any medicine u take will be a temporary relief, & maybe it would become an habit.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured.Taking pain killer continuously can be harmful for your health.
I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.
