I drink a lot of tea. Someone suggested switching to green tea as it was good for the health.

I picked some up on the weekend, and couldn't believe how terrible the taste was.

Is it an acquired taste or did I just have a bad brand? The green tea I had was chai flavored.

Oh yeah, i think that chai teat tastes like detergent!!! Yuck!!
Try a regular green tea or even a mint green tea is even nicer. And a tiny bit of sugar if you have a sweet tooth.
Happy tea drinking!

Chai flavoured green tea isn't really a typical flavour - but a lot of people find that green tea is very bitter. I did too, until I went to a Thai restaurant where they served green tea with the meals and it was so good! The key is that green tea should only be steeped for a minute or too, and with just under boiling water. Otherwise it will taste bitter. Most people are just used to making regular black tea, so they end up oversteeping green tea. If you make it right, it should have a milder, smoother taste!

But if you find you still don't enjoy it that much and want to reap the health benefits, try a green tea with peppermint, or another flavour you enjoy!

I am a tea drinker myself and have been drinking green tea for over 2 years for health benefits. Brand matters! Not because of quality but more because they all taste a little different. Japanese green tea tastes a little more bitter than mainland Chinese tea. If you don't like green tea after trying a bunch out, switch to White tea which holds the same benefits if not more.

I believe green tea is an acquired taste. Especially since you switched from one right to the other. There are so many different kinds. I like brewing mine at home. The new ones you can buy pre-made, I don't really care for. Black tea is also good for you. It's all the sugar that is really bad.

it may have been the brand.
I would try a different brand if I were you. I don't do the bottled green teas too much but there are some that are okay and some that are disgusting. the same with leaf teas- some are just better quality than others.
Personally, I like chai, but some people don't - try to look for an organic straight green tea and try it with honey!

It might be the brand. I would suggest green tea made from companies like Tazo Tea, or The Republic of Tea. They are a bit on the expensive side (for tea at least), but you can expect quality.

Some teas do require a selected taste, but green tea is a very broad type of tea that mostly everyone enjoys.

chai is just another word for tea. Green tea is tea that is made of leaves that haven't been as oxidized as the tea that westerners are used to (which is commonly known as black tea).

Yes, green tea is an acquired taste. Especially if you were expecting a flavor akin to our traditional tea.

Just mix it with other teas. That's right. Put two teabags in. Like Raspberry green tea.

Also, stick with the plain green tea, or go organic. Chai tea has an aquired taste (I love it plain, but I know other people who hate it)

I like Arizona Green Tea w. lemon or citrus...its good..sometimes the brew kind taste a little funny. If your not going for the all over heath effect of green tea than drink the bottled kind, otherwise i recommend sugar of sweetener.

For me, green tea was an acquired taste. Since I didn't care for it at first, I started with a little sugar, and gradually decreased the amount (it doesn't take much to help). Now I drink it without sugar.
