I don't know about boyfriends and girlfriends, but I know that for my husband I am more important than his job; he's an attorney.
He has to go to work to provide for the family, but in ideal we would like to work together at some point.
He wants to start his own practice; that would be great.
I am not quite sure what you are asking; but if it's about choosing between me and his job, I don't have even slightest doubt in my head and in my heart that kids and I are more important for him than the best paid job in the world. I'm talking here about serious commitment.

However, if your boyfriend chose his job over you, you shouldn't get mad. Girlfriends come and go but job in young man's life is the only thing that makes him feel independent, self-sufficient and worthy.

don't pin a guy in the corner with that choice. You can never have it perfect. And guys don't think in terms of you vs. work. They want work to be GREAT so you will like them more. sorry to say, but that is the case with ambitious men. I will tell you that if you date a competetive man, then you WANT him to be kicking *** on the work front because he'll be happy and more fun to be around. If he is struggling at work and a competetive person, then don't crucify him for being moody, grumpy, etc. If you stick by him THEN, he will NEVER forget it and you will win his heart. A lot of women want this even keel guy who is perfect to be around at all times. The minute tough times come up, they are GONE (if not married). If you want the even keel guy, btw, you should probably move down the spectrum and get the guy who is not competetive and just settles for the mundane. good luck.

With the right woman, love is always more important to me. I am married and my wife is the #1 thing in my life. Don't get me wrong, we both work a lot, but it is for our common goals.

If you are dating someone that values work more than you, save yourself the headache, move on.

Who cares? Work is more important to ME, and that's all that matters. If any guy wants love from me, he's not getting very far.

It's not just a GUY thing. It's a personality thing.

If you're a family-focused guy, it will be family.

If you're a money-orientated guy, it will be work.

It really has nothing to do with love .You can love your work as much as you love your family and still spend more time at home.

You can't have one without the other.....

How would you take care of the girl if you didn't have work?

All work and no play....you know the rest.

Goodluck!
