I live in NYC and I only have a few close friends here. I have tried online dating but I can't stand it (it's really depressing and I believe so much more in chemistry than internet 'shopping' for dates). So, I don't have any friends that have any single guy prospects, and I work with mostly women (or gay or married men). The close friends I have here have BFs and do not want to go out to meet men with me. If a girl, in my situation, is not into the bar scene and is not into "hooking up", how the hell do I meet someone? I'm at a loss! sigh ... Thanks. :-)

Also NYC here. Tried the same things you did and had the same result. Sometimes it happens because you just bump into the right person at the right time - I wish it were easier than that as well. Sometimes, online truly is the answer in a situation like that. I've met many platonic (guh) friends online.
