PCWorld recently did a review of two great free AV programs in their January 2007 issue - AVG and Avast. Also, you can check out AV-Test.Org to compare different AV program offerings.

I can't find the exact PC World Article, but hopefully this will get you started. Also check your local newstand. http://blogs.pcworld.com/tipsandtweaks/archives/003257.html

The article in the print version of the magazine is on page 49, titled "Dump Pricey Antivirus for a Freebie" PC World January 2007. (current issue)

i hear that AVG is the best. just search for it on google. to find more, just go to download.com. the software is mostly free, and they are all checked for spyware so you know it's safe.
