We can save our clean and fresh water by catching it in the top of the mountains to infitrate it in underground spaces with canals wich follow the same levels curves.
like that:

The canal irrigates slowly the ground and keeps water to reconstitute the water reserves and purify it.
this concept can fight dryness together with floods.
The trees grow up and absorbe CO2 ....and give back my oxygen . wow i feel good!!!!

I agree with the above answers and would also like to add a couple of suggestions.

When the water is heating up for a shower I place a bucket in the bottom of it and pour this water on the garden.

I use earth-friendly washing powder and catch the water from my washing machine and pour it on my garden.

Take quick showers instead of baths, don't run the water when brushing your teeth, when washing dishes, fill the sink with a couple inches of water and rinse with that instead of running water for the 15 or 20 minutes it takes to finish the dishes

the two previous people said a lot of helpful things but i'll add more.

change your faucets, toilets, shower heads and anything that you use for water to become water efficient. I'm sure they have water efficient rating items in america. fix up leaking pipes, wash your car with a bucket and sponge, install rain water tanks for extra storage, use recycled water for the toilet and shower, have terrace gardens so that you can produce and store water. PLUS MANY MORE

I SUGGESTED TO THE BABE NEXT DOOR THAT WE SHOWER TOGETHER TO SAVE WATER BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. WE WOUND UP SPENDING TWICE AS MUCH TIME IN THE SHOWER THAT IF WE HAD SHOWERED SEPARATELY. BUT IT WAS FUN!!
ONLY FLUSH THE TOILET EVERY THIRD TIME,
WASH YOUR DISHES IN THE SWIMMING POOL
SHOWER MONTHLY INSTEAD OF WEEKLY.
PEE ON YOUR LAWN TO REDUCE WATERING
DRINK BEER AND NOT WATER
IF YOU MUST DRINK WATER DRINK IMPORTED WATER THAT WAY THEY RUN OUT FIRST
