How is the service? I keep hearing positive and negative feedback. What airline is recommended for flights into/out of Asia?

I don't really have the liberty to be picky when I fly to Asia but Korean Air has been fine for me.
The service on most Asian airlines is pretty good, I wouldn't worry about that. Personally, I thought ANA was better but that's probably because it was a brand new plane and they upgraded me for free for some strange (but awesome) reason.
All other things being equal- if I had a choice, I would look what aircraft the flight was using and checking to see if they had a tv screen at each seat and things like that. It's a long flight.

While I've never flown with either airline, I'd choose whichever airline is cheaper, even by a few pounds. The reason is because the two airlines are extremely similar in quality. Both have seat-back entertainment in Economy class, both have great food, both have great service, however... If you want to be picky, then Asiana Airlines may edge out Korean Air. Asiana supposedly has a 5-star (out of 5) ranking by Skytrax, a standard held by only seven airlines in the world, vs. Korean Air's 4-star ranking. In Economy class, the personal screens are large and chock-full of good movies, TV programs, and more. Some even say that Asiana is quality over quantity, but not necessarily Korean Air. All in all, I would go for either airline. It's not like either airline is perfect: of course people have had bad experiences on occasion. You can use the information above and under Sources to make your own decision.

The overall service is pretty good. The food is a watered down version of Korean food. Not nearly as bad as Bob describes it but I've had better on other airlines. The meal described by Bob is Bibimbab.Which is a quite healthy alternative to most western food. They usually have some kind of a roasted beef in soy sauce dish if the seaweed and weeds don't appeal to you.

One good tip is when the plane stops everyone immediatly gets up and stands for what appears to be an eternity. Don't get out of your seat until it appears people are leaving.

horrible.. food is terrible.. it looked like weeds, and grass mixed with rice with some red stuff. Revolting.

FA's were ok.. but the Korean passengers were horrible. Putting bags everywhere, yelling, spitting on the floor. Very uncouth. Will never fly that airline again, more for the other passengers, than the overall service.

having flown all the majors - EVA, Asiana, United, Delta, etc on my 15 trips to thailand, i prefer korean air. they are always easy to deal with if i have to change my ticket or flight. i like asian/korean food, so it's fine. planes are usually nice and clean, stewards are helpful. they fly Boeing equipment, which i much prefer over the other guys. EVA air would be my second choice, but i havn't made that second choice in the last 6 or 7 trips. i'll never use Orbitz or Expedia again. sure, saved a lousy 100$ on a thousand +- ticket, but they are absolutely inflexible if you need to make changes, and a PITA if you have to deal with them for changes or adjustments.

My inlaws flew Korean Air when they went back to China from the U.S. They didn't have any problems.
