I know this sounds kind of dumb, but I'm 17 and getting a prescription for birth control. My parents are okay with my decision but won't actually support me so far as taking me to the pharmacy. What do I need to have with me other than the information on my insurance card and the prescription from my doctor?
Thansks a lot...I really need to figure out how to do this!

Your prescription, insurance card, and money.

Anything else should be info you already know. Make sure you know the names of any other medications that you have used recently in case they ask. They may not ask. Sometimes they may to make sure there are no drug interactions.

Go to the pharmacy, and show them your prescription. If you are not on the system, they'll ask you a couple of questions. Come back when prescription is filled, show your insurance card, and pay. If you have any questions, this is the time to ask them. For birth control, remember to take it at the same time every day.

You only need the prescription from your doctor and your insurance card. Walk up, turn it in at the pharmacy counter where it says drop-off and wait for them to fill it. Or if it takes too long to wait go back later. All you have to do is walk back up to the counter and give them your name. They will get it and bring it to you.

Yes, your prescription card, your doctor's prescription, and some I.D. (and money, of course). That's all you'll need.

I find it odd that your parents support your decision, but won't take you to the pharmacy. Kind of passive/aggressive in my opinion.

If you are going to the pharmacy you have filled prescriptions at before then that is all you would need besides money to pay for it.

Bring your insurance card every time you go to the pharmacy. Plus money. You can check with your insurance company also. Sometimes they have a mail-order option which can save you money and trips to the pharmacy. Oh, and tell them of any drug allergies. (And your question isn't dumb, you sound responsible.)
