Reception- have it at a VFW or at someones house
Food- serve a brunch or lunch (its much cheaper if you have it at a location other than a house) If you have a home reception, anything goes- try a HUGE BBQ
Flowers- Utilize your surroundings like have it in the flower garden or huge back yard.
Alcohol- see if you can get it yourself from a wholesaler.
Cake- have a faux cake made bottom layers fake small on at top real) and then have two other sheet cakes made for the guests- those are kept out of site and then cut and given to the guests.
Outfits- go informal. Find a pretty dress right after Prom season on sale- this also works for bridesmaids dresses. Have the guys in very sharp shirts and khaki pants or other dress pants.
Other things such as photography- have someone close to you do that and videography. Give your guests cameras and have them take candid shots of everything and then desginate two more to take the other pictures of you two.
Good luck! email me for more ideas!

Ok, there is nothing I hate more than going to a wedding without a meal or alcohol. As a guest, I spend at least $100 on the couple and see a wedding as an entire day event. Not to mention that many guests travel and take off work in order to attend. Do not under any circumstances cut back on the food or booze, as you will only make guests unhappy. That said, low budget weddings are so possible! If you need to cut cost on alcohol, limit your choices to beer and wine. Have your reception at a hall instead of a banquet facility. Limit flowers, they are so expensive! Besides your bouquet and your husbands boutonniere all else is optional. Most couples have flowers for their parents to signify them as honorary guests, but you can always honor them by thanking them during your ceremony or lighting candles for your parents. Also, if you are able, make your own flower arrangements. It is cheaper to purchase flowers and arrange them yourself than to have a florist do it. Don't hire a DJ! Find a couple friends that are good with Itunes and have them each take turns pressing play on a playlist. This way you can request songs YOU want to hear and don't have to worry about the chicken dance! Make everything yourself! Centerpieces can be rented, or you can put together something elegant with a vase, ribbon and a candle. Do cheap favors! My favorite is buying the paper that has seeds in it. Guests can plant it, and you can write a special quote on it. Make your own invitations, place cards, thank yous. Printing yourself will save $$$$ For low cost food, do a buffett style meal, or consider roasting a pig. It is SO cheap and most side dishes can be made the night before and stuck in the oven an hour before the reception (mashed potatos, baked beans, etc) Ask a local photography student to take pictures. If you hire a photographer ask for a CD of the photos so that you only print the ones you want.

Well you could have a wedding at your place or at a wedding chapel. Get married like in the spring and just have a pretty dress not have to be your traditional wedding dress. For the wedding cake, I would go to wal-mart and take a pic of you and your boyfriend and have them make a sheet cake with your pic on it and just have them say something like Congratulations, etc. You could have a reception and have the cake and you can find recipes for punch on the Internet and maybe some nuts, mints. This would be nice but low key. Hey let me know if you need more tips.

decide what you MUST have for a wedding, and leave out the extras.
Some of the money saving things we did:
No wedding cake, the venue provided cheesecake for the last course.
no expensive flower arrangements- I had hand tied roses and smaller hand tied bunches for the bridesmaids. The whole package only cost $300, which is as much as some pay for just the bridal arrangement.
Go to bridal shops and try on dresses. Once you find "the one", get the name and the designer, then buy it on Ebay. Another option is to ask to look at their "samples", I bought a Maggie Soterro for $300. (including alterations)
Consider having an Hour Douvre (SP?) and wine reception. It can be very classy for a lower cost than an entire meal.

First thing... make a guest list.... then check it again and again with your future husband. Keep the guest list very low.... family and old friends.
Check out dresses on EBAY. Believe me... some of those gowns are georgeous! I bought mine there, and NOBODY knew the difference, and I paid less than $100. (make sure you know your measurments).
Try to get a reception site that includes as much as possible. Mine included the cake, napkins, servers, some will include a DJ, etc... If you don't serve alcohol you will save a bundle.
spend some time and do your research... check out weddingchannel.com for all kinds of tips and cost saving strategies.
Cut out the wedding favors.
Your biggest expense will be the reception... and if you keep your people down, you will save money...

You have to identify your budget first. After that, canvass / make quotations for the lowest and cheapest hall, video and picture, catering service and giveaway souvenirs. Once you have finished, choose the cheapest but has to pass your taste. Then decide how many visitors you want to invite based on your budget.Purchase only for the necessary things needed. Keep it simple but memorable.

- pick your MUST HAVES - the aspects of the wedding that are a must for you - put those into the budget, then find ways to work the rest in compromising where you need to:)
