I have the bumper of the person who hit my dog. Is there anything I can do?

If I were you, I wouldn't try to find that driver.

Not only will you *not* be able to recover any medical costs or press any legal action against the driver or owner of the car, but they'll be able to sue you for the damage done to their car by your dog....and they'll win. Every time. The car had a right to be in the road; your dog didn't.

The law (and common sense) says that it's your responsibility to keep your dog (and cats, for that matter) out of the road, where they can't get hit. Unless you were standing near the road with your dog on a leash and the car swerved out of its lane to intentionally hit it, unless the car drove up into your yard to hit your dog, or unless the car drove through your living room and hit your dog....it's your fault that your dog got hit, not the driver's. :-(
Sorry, but that's the hard truth of the matter.

Most often, pets can't even be seen in the road until it's too late to avoid hitting them. If the car swerves to avoid an animal, that places human life (those in the car, as well as any other cars on the road) in danger of severe injury or death.

I certainly hope your dog is going to be okay....but my sympathies lie with your dog, not with its irresponsible owner. :-/

one was there a good reason the dog was running loss
also did you get the license
if so call the law in my book they should pay the med billing if they were in the wrong but the same they should of stopped
if this was a child they would of stopped & to me my pets are my childeren's
my dogs are for me they are my service dog i'm Deaf i don't keep them tied for then they couldn't help me when i need help
my dog was a hit & run & she died quick but cause i didn't have the license on the car they couldn't do nothing for me she did save my life
for i didn't see the car coming i'll never forget her they were on the wrong sided of the road so it was there fault
i wish you lucky but i belive the more people who call the law on hit & run pets it would be better for alot of people
but if the pet was running loss for no good reason then i'm sorry but i blame the owner
i hope & pray your dog is doing ok

I agree with the last poster.

The worst that will happen to the driver is he'll get a ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident. But if there's damage to his car, he can turn around and sue your butt off, plus you could get fined for your dog running at large.

You made the incorrect determination. it incredibly is the regulation, you ought to document the hitting of a canines! perhaps that canines in simple terms by probability slipped its collar and being a wet evening it ran off. perhaps the vendors have been attempting to hit upon their canines! No way ought to you have buried that canines! you do no longer even incredibly comprehend if that canines replaced into incredibly ineffective! It replaced into darkish and wet out! i might discover it very annoying to stay with myself if I have been to do something wacky like that.

thats really sad, is your dog ok? If you really care about your dogthen yes, report it, I THINK you do that by calling the police/humane society and report, by just answering theyre questions, sorry if I wasn't of any help

there is really nothing you can do.
it is unfortunate that the jerk didn't stop
like any decent person would.
actually you could call your local
P.D. and ask them if it's considered
a hit and run.
I don't think it does, but it never hurts to ask.
I'm sorry about your dog.

Not really, but you can try calling your local police department. They will probably say it was your fault because the dog was loose.

The only way you could report it is if there is a license plate attached or a finger print.
